Colleton County Sheriff\u2019s Corporal Buford \u201cChad\u201d McDowell was the second first responder to arrive at the Murdaugh\u2019s hunting estate on the night of the murders, and it is his bodycam footage that was shown to the jury, Fox News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/bodycam-footage-released-murdaugh-trial-shows-grisly-crime-scene\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>McDowell arrived at the property after Murdaugh made a tearful 911 call, in which he said that he had found his son and wife. \u201cbadly shot\u201d at the family\u2019s dog kennels. The footage shows the body of 22-year-old Paul Murdaugh \u2013 blurred out for jurors \u2013 who was fatally shot with a shotgun. As McDowell moves toward Alex Murdaugh, the footage shows Maggie\u2019s body and the sounds of barking dogs can be heard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer name is Maggie Murdaugh,\u201d Alex tells Sgt. McDowell approaches Daniel Greene.<\/p>\n<p>McDowell gave the footage to jurors on January 26th, Fox reported. The footage was released to the public only on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>McDowell asked McDowell at one point if other deputy were there. \u201cfamiliar with this family?\u201d Greene replied: \u201cI wasn\u2019t until you told me the names.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McDowell also notices that Paul Murdaugh\u2019s phone was placed on top of his back pocket, which he notes is out of the ordinary. Alex Murdaugh told investigators that he had picked up Paul\u2019s phone and then put it on his son\u2019s back pocket.<\/p>\n<p>This footage shows the violence of the crime scene with McDowell and other officers discussing how Paul might have died.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis brain matter is on the ceiling in there, so he was shot at an upward angle with a shotgun wad laying on the floor that would point to suicide,\u201d McDowell added. \u201cThat doesn\u2019t explain [Maggie].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Monday&#8217;s death of the family was described by Dr. Ellen Riemer, a pathologist. According to Dr. Ellen Riemer, Paul was shot twice with a shotgun. One blast covered his chest with pellets, and the other hit his head. This left his skull almost empty. <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/legal-proceedings-homicide-south-carolina-covid-1e487566c01edfacf4ab45ec54ffb3c0\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie was shot at least four to five times with a rifle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe had projectiles, ammunition going through her left kidney, you can imagine that was a very painful wound and could have cause her to fold over in pain,\u201d According to the AP, Riemer stated.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie was facing away to the shooter when she fell down. \u201cbasically destroyed her brain,\u201d Riemer stated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Disgraced South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh was crying as he stood between the bodies of his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, on the night they were found murdered, police body camera footage shows.
