Republicans argue that the bureau is deeply politicized. <\/p>\n<p>Last week\u2019s saga, in which FBI headquarters was forced to disavow a local FBI field office\u2019s intelligence memo that <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/fbi-hq-disavows-fbi-field-office-intel-report-radical-traditionalist-catholics\">Attempted to link \u201cradical-traditionalist Catholics\u201d<\/a> With domestic terrorism, this was the latest example that the bureau relied upon questionable sources to pursue <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/blowing-the-whistle-gop-whistleblowers-expose-fbi-controversies\">Investigative cases that are politically sensitive and high-profile<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>A significant portion of the FBI&#8217;s Trump-Russia investigation was also based on British ex-spys. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/christopher-steele\">Christopher Steele\u2019s<\/a> <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/john-durham-witness-fbi-offer-proof-christopher-steele-dossier\">discredited dossier<\/a>Attorney General <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/merrick-garland\">Merrick Garland<\/a> A spurred by the need to issue a <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/garland-son-in-law-education-company-pushes-lawmakers-adopt-ideas\">controversial school boards protest memo<\/a> Whistleblowers claimed that the National School Boards Association had wrongly referred to agents in the bureau, based on a now-withdrawn letter. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/hunter-biden-criminal-fbi-investigation-whistleblower-ukraine-china\">Attempted to dismiss or downplay evidence<\/a> <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hunter-biden\">Hunter Biden<\/a> In the run-up to 2020, and many other things. <\/p>\n<p><b>\u201cRadical Traditionalist Catholics\u201d<\/b> <\/p>\n<p>FBI headquarters distanced itself from a local field office\u2019s intelligence report that warned about the alleged connection between <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/fbi-hq-disavows-fbi-field-office-intel-report-radical-traditionalist-catholics\">\u201cracially or ethnically motivated violent extremists\u201d  \u201cradical-traditionalist Catholics.\u201d<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>An FBI intelligence product released on Jan. 23 by the bureau\u2019s field office in Richmond, Virginia, claimed the office \u201cassesses the increasingly observed interest of racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists (RMVEs) in radical-traditionalist Catholic (RTC) ideology almost certainly presents opportunities for threat mitigation through the exploration of new avenues for tripwires and source development.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>According to the FBI, the <i>Washington Examiner<\/i> Thursday, April 13: \u201cThis particular field office product &#8230; does not meet the exacting standards of the FBI. Upon learning of the document, FBI Headquarters quickly began taking action to remove the document from FBI systems and conduct a review of the basis for the document.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The FBI had repeatedly cited the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center by the local FBI field office, including an <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.splcenter.org\/fighting-hate\/extremist-files\/ideology\/radical-traditional-catholicism\">Article<\/a> On \u201cRadical Traditional Catholicism.\u201d The field office also pointed out <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salon.com\/2022\/05\/12\/nationalists-get-religion-on-the-far-right-fringe-catholics-and-forge-a-movement\/\">Articles<\/a> Left-wing writers at <i>Salon<\/i>, <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salon.com\/2022\/05\/13\/trad-catholics-and-nationalist-groypers-forge-a-new-far-right-youth-movement\/\">Includes<\/a> \u201cWhite Nationalists Get Religion\u201d  \u201cTraditional Catholics and White Nationalist \u2018Groypers\u2019 Forge a New Far-Right Youth Movement.\u201d FBI Richmond also cited an <i>Atlantic<\/i> <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/ideas\/archive\/2022\/08\/radical-traditionalist-catholic-christian-rosary-weapon\/671122\/\">Article<\/a> Written by a left-wing author \u201cHow Extremist Gun Culture is Trying to Co-Opt the Rosary.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>A coalition of 20 Republican attorneys general led by Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares quickly sent a letter to Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray, telling them that \u201canti-Catholic bigotry appears to be festering in the FBI, and <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense-national-security\/miyares-garland-wray-anti-catholic-fbi\">The bureau regards Catholics as terrorists due to their religious beliefs.&#8221;<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>The FBI headquarters sent the email disavowal to the <i>Washington Examiner<\/i> The Republican-led congressional hearing began shortly after the start of the Thursday session. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/chairman-jordans-opening-statement-select-subcommittee-weaponization-federal\">Select Subcommittee of the Federal Government Weaponization<\/a>. FBI has taken the website belonging to a notorious ransomware gang which has targeted hospitals and other healthcare providers.<br \/>\n               <\/figcaption><div class=\"Figure-credit\" itemprop=\"author\">\n Jose Luis Magana\/AP\n               <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/figure><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><b>The Dossier<\/b> <\/p>\n<p>The FBI used Steele\u2019s discredited dossier to obtain four Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants and renewals targeting Trump campaign associate Carter Page, and fired FBI Director James Comey and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/christopher-steele-frustrated-his-dossier-appeared-in-annex-of-intelligence-report-fbi-notes-show\">pushed to include the dossier\u2019s baseless collusion allegations in the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment on Russian election meddling<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>During all this, the FBI concealed the extent of Steele\u2019s anti-Trump biases from the FISA Court. <\/p>\n<p>DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz wrote in 2019, &#8220;The FBI was aware of the potential for political bias in the Steele election reporting from the outset of obtaining it.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Bruce Ohr was an ex-DOJ official who served as a conduit for Steele and FBI after the former MI6 agents had been removed as a confidential human source. He told the bureau that he did so by November 2016. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/christopher-steele-holds-firm-on-defending-discredited-dossier\">Steele was &#8220;desperate that Donald Trump not get elected and was passionate about him not being the U.S. president.&#8221;<\/a> DOJ surveillance noted that Steele described Trump in a 2017 interview to the FBI as &#8220;his&#8221; \u201cmain opponent\u201d This was confirmed by an FBI analyst. \u201cclear bias.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>FBI analyst Brian Auten, who interviewed Steele\u2019s main source, Russian lawyer Igor Danchenko, in early 2017 and was there when the Justice Department <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/fbi-immunity-agreement-steele-igor-danchenko-durham-trial\">Set up a partial immunity arrangement<\/a> Danchenko, along with Danchenko were among the FBI employees that interviewed Steele in Rome at the beginning of October 2016 when the FBI wanted more information about the dossier. Auten disclosed last year that Steele was the victim of a sex attack. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/john-durham-witness-fbi-offer-proof-christopher-steele-dossier\">FBI offered Steele $1 million in incentives if he could support the allegations of collusion contained in his dossier.<\/a> Auten claimed that the ex-MI6 agent couldn&#8217;t confirm any dossier claims and would be prosecuted if necessary. <\/p>\n<p>The FBI used the dossier to defend Steele, and Danchenko was made, which was previously a FBI agent. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/fbi-agent-suspected-steele-dossier-source-russian-intelligence\">His possible connections to Russian intelligence were investigated<\/a>The, a confidential paid human source starting in 2017 and ending in 2020. <\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/twitter-exec-key-new-info-hunter-biden-censorship-decision\">TOP TWITTER EXEC REVEALS KEY INFO ABOUT HUNTER BIDEN CENSORSHIP DELIVERY<\/a><\/b> <\/p>\n<p><b>School Board Protests<\/b> <\/p>\n<p>A since-withdrawn NSBA letter in 2021 spurred Garland to direct the FBI and the DOJ\u2019s National Security Division to help police alleged threats against school board members, with Republicans arguing <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/nsba-internal-memo-shows-coordination-with-white-house-on-letter-comparing-parent-protests-to-domestic-terrorism\">The Biden White House collided with the Biden White House to produce the letter.<\/a> and the national school boards group which was later disbanded. <\/p>\n<p>Garland <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/doj-talked-with-white-house-before-issuing-domestic-terrorism-school-protest-memo\">revealed<\/a> The White House and DOJ communicated in 2021 about the September 2021 NSBA letters just before he published his October 2021 letter. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/doj-school-board-violence-memo-targets-concerned-parents\">Memo<\/a>NSBA letter urging DOJ to examine the PATRIOT Act deployment \u201cin regards to domestic terrorism\u201d Protesting parents are not allowed to protest. Garland\u2019s memo said it would &#8220;discourage these threats, identify them when they occur, and prosecute them when appropriate.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>An <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/nsba-wrote-parents-as-terrorists-letter-at-behest-of-education-secretary-miguel-cardona-emails-show\">email exchange<\/a> between an NSBA board member and the NSBA\u2019s treasurer claimed that their letter was written in response to \u201ca request by\u201d Miguel Cardona is Secretary of Education. <\/p>\n<p>Internal <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/white-house-knew-about-letter-that-compared-parents-to-domestic-terrorists\/\">Emails <\/a>Some NSBA board members opposed to the letter being sent to President Joe Biden and the school boards group. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/education\/nsba-apologizes-for-letter-calling-parents-domestic-terrorists\">Withdrew<\/a> The letter was rescinded and they apologized. Dozens of chapters left the NSBA in 2021 in protest of the seemingly politicized actions of the group\u2019s leadership. <\/p>\n<p>Garland <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/garland-defends-doj-memo-despite-nsba-letter-being-withdrawn\">Doubled down<\/a> on his memo during congressional testimony in 2021, arguing that NSBA\u2019s follow-up apology \u201cdoes not change the association\u2019s concern about violence and threats of violence.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>An email provided by an FBI whistleblower indicated the FBI was using some counterterrorism tools to carry out Garland\u2019s directive, showing <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/fbi-is-monitoring-threats-against-school-board-members-whistleblower-email-shows\">The Counterterrorism Division created a &#8220;threat tag&#8221; FBI officials can use<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The FBI and the DOJ\u2019s National Security Division <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/doj-and-fbi-national-security-officials-downplay-role-in-carrying-out-garlands-school-board-memo\">downplayed their roles in carrying out Garland\u2019s order<\/a> In 2022. <\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE ABOUT THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/b> <\/p>\n<p><b>The Laptop<\/b> <\/p>\n<p>The <i>New York Post<\/i> In October 2020, it was reported that emails sent from the laptop contained evidence of Hunter Biden&#8217;s shady business dealings. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/grassley-johnson-send-prosecutor-evidence-hunter-biden\">China and Ukraine<\/a>. The publication tried to post the articles to its Twitter account but the social media company told it that this was against their policy against sharing &#8220;hacked&#8221; materials. <\/p>\n<p>Former Twitter deputy general counsel Jim Baker, who had previously been the FBI\u2019s general counsel under Comey and played a key role in the Trump-Russia investigation, <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.house.gov\/meetings\/GO\/GO00\/20230208\/115286\/HHRG-118-GO00-Wstate-BakerJ-20230208.pdf\">defended his and Twitter\u2019s actions<\/a> Related to the Hunter Biden laptop-censorship scandal last week <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/no-unlawful-collusion-twitter-execs-walk-hunter-biden-laptop-censorship\">No \u201cunlawful collusion\u201d<\/a> Between Twitter and the FBI, or the Biden campaign. <\/p>\n<p>Baker appeared to favor censoring laptop stories in October 2020, according to Twitter colleagues. \u201cit&#8217;s reasonable for us to assume that\u201d Materials for laptops \u201cmay have been\u201d hacked \u201cand that caution is warranted.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Yoel Rot, the former Twitter executive, described meetings he held with the FBI in December 2020.
