He was later sentenced for a year, one day in federal prison.<\/p>\n<p>Archer received an email from Hunter Biden on April 21st 2014 in which he claimed that he was very close to Baucus. &#8220;can ask anything we need&#8221; after Archer said he had an upcoming dinner with the then-ambassador\u2019s &#8220;best friend.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"image-ct inline\">\n<div class=\"m\"><source media=\"(max-width: 767px)\" \/><source media=\"(min-width: 767px) and (max-width: 1023px)\" \/><source media=\"(min-width: 1024px) and (max-width: 1279px)\" \/><source media=\"(min-width: 1280px)\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/a57.foxnews.com\/static.foxnews.com\/foxnews.com\/content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/640\/320\/img_1038.jpg?ve=1&#038;tl=1\" alt=\"On April 21, 2014, Hunter Biden sent an email to Archer insisting that he was really close with Baucus and \" can ask anything we need \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"info\">\n<div class=\"caption\">\n<p><span>Archer received an email from Hunter Biden on April 21st 2014 in which he claimed that he was very close to Baucus. &#8220;can ask anything we need.&#8221;<\/span> <span>(Fox News Digital).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Hunter wrote &#8220;On Baucus- we have a very very good relationship and I can ask anything we need- don&#8217;t need his best friend if that&#8217;s why you are mtg him.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Months later,\u00a0Archer told BHR CEO Jonathan Li in a Sept. 11, 2014, email that he was &#8220;waiting for a confirmation for our meeting at the US Embassy with Ambassador Baucus October 8th&#8221;\u00a0While discussing the schedule for the BHR board meeting in Beijing later that month. It included a &#8220;Meeting with Ambassador Baucus&#8221; At &#8220;the U.S. Embassy&#8221; Feb. 5, 2012, 2:45 PM<\/p>\n<p>Months later, on Oct. 9, 2015, top BHR executive Xin Wang\u00a0sent an email to Archer, with Hunter and other board members Cc\u2019d, saying &#8220;it would be great&#8221; Baucus may attend a private meal after the BHR seminar in that month.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will be hosting a private dinner after the seminar for a select group of guests and it would be great if Ambassador Baucus could make an attendance then,&#8221; Xin wrote that time. &#8220;I will leave it to you to work your magic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I appreciate that and will work on the Ambassador in the meantime,&#8221; Archer replied in part.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The email revelations come days after former Ambassador Baucus gave an interview to Politico in which he discussed his long career as a senator and his role in the Senate Finance Committee. Baucus Institute of the University of Montana which offers a China Summer Abroad program.<\/p>\n<p>It is not known who Baucus&#8217; BHR associates Baucus actually had meetings with or what these meetings involved.
