The Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum will take action against the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission.<\/p>\n<p>The Criminal Division of Rosenblum\u2019s office opened a criminal investigation against members of the leadership of the OLCC. They are accused of using their power for personal gain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn light of this decision, the civil investigation requested Wednesday by Governor Kotek will be delayed until the completion of the criminal investigation,\u201d <a data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.doj.state.or.us\/media-home\/news-media-releases\/oregon-attorney-general-announces-criminal-investigation-involving-olcc\/&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1676415519748000&#038;usg=AOvVaw2181daZNWagceqCgrrMAw1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.doj.state.or.us\/media-home\/news-media-releases\/oregon-attorney-general-announces-criminal-investigation-involving-olcc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Press release<\/a> from Rosenblum\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n<p>Rosenblum\u2019s office said that the investigation has to do with liquor purchases made by OLCC members but does not explain what exactly happened.<\/p>\n<p>Tina Kotek, Oregon governor, requested that the board remove its executive director as well as other leaders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis behavior is wholly unacceptable,\u201d Kotek sent a letter to OLCC last Wednesday. \u201cI will not tolerate wrongful violations of our government ethics laws.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I urge the commission to install new leadership and remove the managers and executive leadership who have taken advantage of their access and authority to benefit themselves,&#8221; Kotek has been added.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Marks is the OLCC&#8217;s executive director. Oregon&#8217;s governor appoints members to the OLCC board of commissioners. The board then selects the executive director.<\/p>\n<p>Kotek stated in her letter that an internal review had confirmed that OLCC members were guilty for certain ethics violations.<\/p>\n<p>Kotek also requested Rosenblum to conduct an investigation civilly into the matter. Kotek requested Rosenblum to suggest protocols to prevent such violations from occurring again.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This investigation should not undermine the great work that the staff of OLCC performs every day,\u201d Kotek wrote. \u201cDespite the disappointing actions of a few, the vast majority of public servants within OLCC serve Oregonians with integrity and dedication.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kotek\u2019s office told The Center Square over the weekend that it has no further comment on this issue.
