Pennsylvania<\/em>A perfunctory, but often overlooked order <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/courts\/texas-ag-to-face-ethics-lawsuit-from-state-bar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Published<\/a> Ende January, revealed. <\/p>\n<p>The partisan targeting against Paxton is only one of many attempts made by Democrats to weaponize the state bars to dissuade Republicans from representing attorneys, however, The Federalist has obtained court documents that reveal that the Texas attorney General went nuclear.<\/p>\n<p>News broke in March 2022 as Paxton was getting ready to face George P. Bush, the Land Commissioner, during the May 2022 GOP election for attorney general. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2022\/03\/08\/state-bar-paxton-complaint\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Leaked<\/a> The State Bar of Texas had in mind to bring an ethics case against Republican attorney general. Soon after Paxton&#8217;s victory in the primary, the Commission for Lawyer Discipline filed a disciplinary lawsuit against Paxton at the Collin County district court in Texas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While the Texas Bar\u2019s disciplinary complaint represents an outrageous and unconstitutional attack on the attorney general, as will be detailed shortly, the backstory is nearly as troubling \u2014 both the machinations underlying the Charge against Paxton and, more broadly, the barrage of politicized bar complaints pursued against Republican lawyers who provided legal advice or litigated various issues in the aftermath of the November 2020 general election.<\/p>\n<p> Bars Gone Rogue <\/p>\n<p>The D.C. Bar\u2019s investigation into former Trump administration Assistant Attorney General Jeff Clark based on a complaint from Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., exemplifies the partisan co-opting of the various professional responsibility boards charged with overseeing attorneys\u2019 conduct.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In Clark\u2019s case, the ethics <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/05\/dc-bar-assails-trump-doj-lawyer-for-dishonesty-to-mask-democrats-2020-election-lies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">charge<\/a> It was both \u201cdemonstrably false and premised on the fraudulent narratives pushed by the partisan politicians running the Jan. 6 show trial and their partners in the press.\u201d Yet Clark has been forced to fight for his livelihood because the D.C. Bar allowed Democrats to convert a disagreement over Clark\u2019s legal opinion into a question of professional ethics. Clark has attempted to put a halt to the proceedings by moving to remove the case to the federal district court, but Clark\u2019s motion has been stalled there for several months.<\/p>\n<p>The California State Bar filed a 35-page and 11-count disciplinary case against John Eastman, a former law professor. The California State Bar\u2019s complaint alleged Eastman\u2019s engagement \u201cin a course of conduct to plan, promote, and assist then-President Trump in executing a strategy, unsupported by facts or law, to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 presidential election by obstructing the count of electoral votes of certain states.\u201d\u00a0As I <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/01\/27\/california-state-bar-would-disbar-ted-cruz-and-18-attorneys-general-if-it-could\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Submitted<\/a> It was: <\/p>\n<p>The 11 charges against Eastman are concerning throughout.
