That is the truth <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/polling-institute\/reports\/MonmouthPoll_US_020923\/\">\u201cclearly negative rating,\u201d<\/a> as researchers at Monmouth put it, means voters view serial liar Santos, who raked in only 42 percent unfavorability, with 11 percent less negativity than the official leader of the GOP Senate. <\/p>\n<p>McConnell also scored poorly compared to Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who was stripped of her committee assignments by Democrats for posting controversial statements to her Facebook prior to her election and even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2020\/06\/17\/house-republicans-condemn-gop-candidate-racist-videos-325579\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shamed by members of her party<\/a>. Approximately 30 percent of Republican votes approved of Greene, while just 19 percent were critical of her. <\/p>\n<p>Even compared to his GOP House counterpart Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who raked in 48 percent favorability and only 15 percent unfavorability, McConnell is disapproved by 38 percent more Republican voters. <\/p>\n<p>Republicans in the senate <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/11\/11\/after-epic-failure-growing-chorus-of-senators-signals-its-time-for-mcconnell-to-go\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">attempted to oust<\/a> McConnell from his GOP leadership position, which he\u2019s held since 2007, shortly after the midterm elections in 2022. Their campaign ultimately failed but <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/12\/21\/gop-cant-be-successful-until-mitch-mcconnell-is-gone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gained more support than it ever has past leadership elections.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Republican voters and legislators aren\u2019t the only ones who appear to despise the veteran senator.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/12\/15\/mcconnell-emblematic-of-republicans-past-is-the-least-popular-politician-in-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">For years<\/a>, McConnell is consistently ranked by American voters as the least popular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/epolls\/other\/other\/FavorabilityRatingsPoliticalLeaders.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">national political leader<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Whether it\u2019s his affinity for greenlighting Democrat spending wish lists, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/11\/10\/the-case-against-mitch-mcconnell-for-leader\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">throwing<\/a> the GOP\u2019s chances at winning back the majority in the upper chamber, or because he appears to have more allegiance to foreign countries like <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/02\/08\/with-his-sotu-ukraine-tie-mitch-mcconnell-advertised-which-country-hes-most-concerned-about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ukraine<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/24\/trump-is-right-mitch-mcconnell-and-elaine-chao-spent-decades-getting-rich-on-china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">China<\/a> than his own country, it\u2019s clear that Republican voters don\u2019t think their leader represents them or their interests. <\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">McConnell: &#8220;Providing assistance for Ukrainians to defeat the Russians is the number one priority for the United States right now according to most Republicans.
