Fox stated in a statement that Biden is still available to sit for the interview.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President was looking forward to an interview with Fox Soul to discuss the Super Bowl, the State of the Union, and critical issues impacting the everyday lives of Black Americans,\u201d Karine Jean-Pierre, White House Press Secretary <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PressSec\/status\/1624089585549467648?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1624089585549467648%7Ctwgr%5E8cd7d9a3145c288214393be1a049ecd9eccd0f6a%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cbsnews.com%2Fatlanta%2Fnews%2Fwhite-house-says-bidens-super-bowl-interview-with-fox-is-off%2F\">Submitted<\/a> Follow us on Twitter Friday afternoon \u201cWe\u2019ve been informed that Fox Corp has asked for the interview to be cancelled.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, Fox said in a statement hours after Jean-Pierre\u2019s post that there was \u201cwas some initial confusion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the White House reached out to FOX Soul Thursday evening, there was some initial confusion,\u201d Fox Corp. spokesperson spoke to news outlets. \u201cFOX Soul looks forward to interviewing the President for Super Bowl Sunday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fox Soul is the broadcaster\u2019s streaming platform targeting black Americans. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/foxsoultv?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor\">According<\/a> to the channel\u2019s Twitter account, it features topics about \u201cBlack News, Inspiration, Celebrity, Social Justice &#038; more!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not clear if the White House will go ahead with the interview.<\/p>\n<p>Jean-Pierre did no more detail about the reason for the interview, but her Twitter post suggests that the White House was indicating that Fox News cancelled the interview. An Epoch Times request for comment was not immediately returned by Fox News Media.<\/p>\n<p>Pre-game interviews have been a tradition for the presidents over the past decade. These are the most watched television programs each year. During his two terms, former President Barack Obama conducted many Super Bowl-related interviews. Former President Donald Trump declined to participate in any of them in 2018, when NBC hosted it.<\/p>\n<p>Biden, on the other hand, had pre-Super Bowl interviews.\u00a0\u201cCBS Evening News\u201d anchor Norah O\u2019Donnell in 2021 and\u00a0\u201cNBC Nightly News\u201d Anchor Lester Holt in 2022<\/p>\n<h2>Anonymous Sources\u2019 Claims<\/h2>\n<p>Unnamed Fox News executives claimed that Biden was offered an interview by the network without any strings attached. Fox News has not yet publicly responded to Jean-Pierre\u2019s statement on Friday, and its website has not published any stories about the development as of Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe offered an interview with our top news anchors with no strings attached,\u201d The Fox News executive said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/media\/2023\/02\/10\/fox-news-biden-super-bowl-interview\/\">The Washington Post<\/a>. \u201cThey walked away from a huge audience, and it\u2019s a major missed opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The President was eager to have an interview with Fox Soul, to discuss the Super Bowl and the State of the Union. In her replies, she did not give any updates.<\/p>\n<p>Jean-Pierre\u2019s allegation came after Fox News anchor Bret Baier said Tuesday that the network was awaiting confirmation from the Biden administration to go ahead with the interview set to air Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe president is going to be out on the road, taking his message to the road. Every year, traditionally, the network covering the Super Bowl gets an interview with the president of the United States,\u201d\u00a0Baier said during the network\u2019s coverage of Biden\u2019s\u00a0State of the Union speech to Congress.\u00a0\u201cWe have formally asked for that interview, but we have not received an answer yet, whether they are going to officially do it or not \u2026 we\u2019re running out of days,\u201d He stated.<\/p>\n<p>Biden did not give a Fox News interview after assuming office in the early 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Fox\u2019s top White House reporter, Peter Doocy, and Biden administration officials have been involved in tense moments since the president took office.
