Gen. Pat Ryder. \u201cThe object was about the size of a small car, so not similar in size or shape to the high-altitude surveillance balloon that was taken down off the coast of South Carolina.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Politico was told by a U.S. official that the object didn&#8217;t appear to possess any. \u201cobservable surveillance equipment.\u201d According to reports, the object flew at around 40,000 feet making it a danger to civilian aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>Randy Reep is an F-15 pilot with experience. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/local\/2023\/02\/11\/experienced-pilot-calls-size-of-unknown-object-flying-over-alaska-coast-unusual\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a> It was large and suspicious.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn modern times, the opportunity to see drones in the air is not uncommon,\u201d Reep. \u201cWhat you\u2019re seeing that\u2019s unusual is the size of these unmanned vehicles that are transient in our airspace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reep stated that U.S. officials wouldn&#8217;t shoot down the object\u00a0\u201cuntil they knew it was an unmanned vehicle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey will have to wait to have all the data so they can provide a good briefing on the exact situation that it was,\u201d Reep.<\/p>\n<p>The news comes following the U.S. military&#8217;s use of an F-22 Raptor last Wednesday to shoot down a Chinese spy satellite over the Atlantic Ocean. They used a single AIM-9X Sidewinder missile and an air-to-air AIM-9X Sidewinder rocket. The missile was fired at approximately 58,000ft. After President Joe Biden had allowed the spy balloon to fly thousands upon miles across the United States, the decision was made to shoot it down.<\/p>\n<p>The latest attack on U.S. airspace occurred late Thursday night in Alaska.
