Rep. Jim Jordan (R.OH) created the committee to investigate several cases in which the DOJ allegedly targeted conservatives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe expect to hear from Americans who have been targeted by their government,\u201d Jordan spoke Thursday at the opening of the hearings.<\/p>\n<p>White House spokesperson Ian Sams immediately issued a four page memo. \u201cinterested parties,\u201d in which he compared the panel to McCarthy\u2019s infamous probes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJudiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan is launching the Fox News reboot of the House Un-American Activities Committee with a political stunt that weaponizes Congress to carry out the priorities of extreme MAGA Republicans in Congress,\u201d He claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Sams accused members of the panel of planning. \u201cweaponize the MAGA agenda against their perceived political enemies, going after civil servants, private citizens, and the rule of law \u2014 all in service of getting booked on Fox News,\u201d adding, \u201cThese extreme MAGA Republicans in Congress are choosing to make it their top priority to go down the rabbit hole of debunked conspiracy theories about a \u2018deep state.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To support his attack on the committee, Sams used Left-wing politicians and entities such as The New York Times and The Washington Post to back up his claim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the course of my 12-plus years, the FBI\u2019s trajectory has transformed,\u201d Nicole Parker, former FBI Special Agent, testified in front of the panel. \u201cThe bureau\u2019s mission remained the same but its priorities and governing principles shifted dramatically. The FBI became politically weaponized, starting from the top in Washington and trickling down to the field offices. Although FBI employees have their First Amendment rights, they are not at the liberty to allow their personal, political views or preferences to determine their course of action or inaction in any investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLady Justice must remain blind,\u201d She continued. \u201cIt\u2019s as if there became two FBIs. Americans see this and it is destroying the Bureau\u2019s credibility, causing Americans to lose faith in the agency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do have direct action shown in the Twitter files by government employees,\u201d Jonathan Turley, George Washington University&#8217;s law professor, made the point. \u201cWe know that there were dozens of federal employees who tabbed or targeted particular posts and posters for possible elimination and suspension.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProtecting the First Amendment shouldn\u2019t be partisan,\u201d Jordan declared. \u201cProtecting the Constitution shouldn\u2019t be partisan, and protecting the fundamental principle of equal treatment under the law should not be partisan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now we live in a country where many Americans are afraid to speak freely, afraid to express themselves, afraid to have real, open dialogue and debate,\u201d asserted former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who left the Democratic party,\u00a0informed the panel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfraid of losing their job, being canceled or be accused of a crime, which could happen if recently introduced legislation criminalizing so-called \u2018hate speech\u201d is passed into law,\u201d she stated, continuing:<\/p>\n<p><em>First Amendment protections speech regardless of its abhorrent nature. Fear and self-censorship are well-founded. There are individuals in our government who, often through Big Tech and the mainstream media, do exactly what our founders refused. They try to control what we can see and say, all while trying to protect us from misinformation.
