They said they didn\u2019t want me to die, they were saving my life, they were worried about me, and they wanted me to be healthy and happy,\u201d Prisha said it to me. \u201cClearly, they don\u2019t love me. As soon as it\u2019s not profitable, they don\u2019t want to help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prisha has had a number of medical complications since her more than five-year-long treatment with testosterone. She also underwent a double mastectomy, which was performed by a plastic surgery shortly after she turned 18. Many of these complications are hers. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hopkinsmedicine.org\/health\/wellness-and-prevention\/anatomy-of-the-endocrine-system#:~:text=The%20endocrine%20system%20is%20a,Hypothalamus.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">endocrine system<\/a>This includes hormones that regulate almost every process of the body, including growth and development, emotions and sexual function as well as metabolism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was hoping that if I could get my endocrine system working, I could be on less psychiatric medicine because low testosterone and estrogen will cause depression and anxiety, both of which I\u2019m medicated for and don\u2019t really like being medicated for,\u201d She said.<\/p>\n<p>Prisha also hopes that with estrogen supplements, she\u2019ll experience some muscle and fat redistribution. Her neck and shoulders have been enlarged by testosterone over the years, and she is now carrying more weight on her upper body. This causes her chronic pain. Her throat is sore and she cannot sing or raise her voices. She also suffers from hair loss and hair growth, which she must treat with expensive laser hair removal sessions.<\/p>\n<p>Prisha also has severe sexual dysfunction and is currently seeking medical attention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI used to be able to, and now I can\u2019t,\u201d She said. \u201cAnd that sucks. There\u2019s pain, there\u2019s irregular periods, and atrophy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> No Medical Professionals will Help <\/p>\n<p>Hormonal care to fix her endocrine system, she hopes, could help her become more feminine \u2014 and perhaps <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC5979264\/#:~:text=Cross%2Dsex%20hormones%20have%20many,which%20can%20lead%20to%20azoospermia.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">It is fertile again<\/a>. But she said every primary care physician, endocrinologist, obstetrician, and gynecologist she\u2019s approached on her insurance list has turned her away or said they can\u2019t help.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI could call and be rejected every single day,\u201d According to Prisha.<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.endocrine.org\/advocacy\/position-statements\/transgender-health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Professonal<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/clinical\/clinical-guidance\/committee-opinion\/articles\/2021\/03\/health-care-for-transgender-and-gender-diverse-individuals\"> Organizations<\/a> These providers often claim to offer inclusive, supportive care that is open and inclusive. \u201ctransgender\u201d And \u201cgender diverse\u201d individuals. That offering, it appears, doesn\u2019t apply to individuals seeking to detransition.<\/p>\n<p>Prisha isn\u2019t the only detransitioner who feels abandoned by the medical institutions that pushed her into wrong-sex hormones and surgery.
