PayPal makes a difference every day for its customers and communities and the company is positioned for a great future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This retirement comes months after PayPal deplatformed many organizations and commentators for their political views. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-paypal-policy-lets-company-pull-2500-from-users-accounts-if-they-promote-misinformation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unveiled<\/a> A change to the acceptable use policy, which would have prohibited promotion \u201cmisinformation,\u201d As well as \u201chate, violence, racial or other forms of intolerance that is discriminatory.\u201d PayPal reported on the policy change within one day of The Daily Wire&#8217;s reporting. It would have imposed $2,500 fines on users for each violation. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/paypal-reverses-plan-to-fine-users-2500-for-misinformation-after-daily-wire-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Claim<\/a> The guidelines were published \u201cin error.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PayPal suffered a $6 billion loss in value during a subsequent stock exchange <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-paypal-stock-plummets-after-daily-wire-report-exposes-shocking-misinformation-policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Selloff<\/a> Many users have canceled accounts. An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/paypal-ceos-interview-with-world-economic-forum-could-suggest-mentality-behind-backtracked-misinformation-penalty\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Interview<\/a> between Schulman and the World Economic Forum published months earlier showed that the executive\u2019s approach to business had long involved moving the needle on social issues as well as earning profits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrust extends well beyond whether you deliver an excellent product or service. Doing that is very necessary, but it\u2019s not sufficient,\u201d asserted Schulman, who currently serves on the World Economic Forum\u2019s International Business Council and Board of Governors. \u201cTo be a company that embodies trust, your mission and values should make it clear that you stand for more than just maximizing profit. That you stand up for social issues that are important, and you do the right things to help create a better world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The World Economic Forum is a major proponent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/esg-the-invisible-fist-of-the-economy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stakeholder capitalism<\/a>This is a way of investing that encourages executives and others to think about the needs of their employees, communities and other stakeholders. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/get-woke-go-broke-amazon-installed-solar-panels-in-an-attempt-to-go-net-zero-they-kept-catching-fire-and-were-turned-off\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">corporate power<\/a> to promote political agendas in the global economic. \u201cSaying that you have values and not acting on them is worse than not having any values,\u201d Schulman continued. \u201cThat\u2019s what causes employees to revolt, that\u2019s how you sow distrust with customers or regulators.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/elon-musk-former-paypal-exec-led-backlash-before-paypal-abandoned-alleged-plan-to-fine-users-2500-for-misinformation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Criticism<\/a> of the PayPal misinformation policy were David Sacks, the company\u2019s former president, and Elon Musk, who co-founded one of the firms which would later become PayPal. Senators also sought more information about the retracted acceptable uses policy in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/senators-confront-paypal-on-misinformation-policy-highlighted-by-daily-wire-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Letter<\/a> Schulman<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGreater encroachment by large technology and financial companies into public speech will only exacerbate Americans\u2019 increasing mistrust of such institutions,\u201d The lawmakers wrote. \u201cPolicies that empower companies to punish individuals\u2019 beliefs by acting as arbiters of fact in our ever-changing news and public debate environment represent poor business decisions.
