Josh Hawley (R., Mo.) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawley.senate.gov\/hawley-announces-investigation-st-louis-pediatric-gender-clinic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Announcement<\/a> On Thursday, an investigation was launched into the Missouri Transgender Medical Center. &#8220;egregious abuses and potential malpractice regarding minors,&#8221; In response to an explosion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefp.com\/p\/i-thought-i-was-saving-trans-kids\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Whistleblower<\/a> The center&#8217;s report &#8220;morally and medically appalling&#8221; practices.<\/p>\n<p>Hawley&#8217;s investigation into the\u00a0Washington University Transgender Center at St. Louis Children&#8217;s Hospital sprang from an expos\u00e9 that Jamie Reed, a self-described &#8220;queer woman&#8221; Reed, a former case manager at this center, published the same article the day before. Reed shared her four-year experiences at the center, as well as concerns about the center&#8217;s rush for minors. &#8220;permanent&#8221; And &#8220;harming&#8221; hormone treatments, &#8220;lack of formal protocols,&#8221; And &#8220;morally and medically appalling&#8221; Be kind to children<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a sickening account of forced sterilization and child abuse. Happening in Missouri at an institution that receives federal taxpayer funds,&#8221; Hawley stated in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HawleyMO\/status\/1623688527350202369?s=20&#038;t=NveKkZwvjamU2vM3b2JazQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tweet<\/a> Link to Reed&#8217;s article.<\/p>\n<p>Missouri&#8217;s Republican state legislators have already filed a bill protecting children from gender-transition procedures. The bill is currently in committee. However, Caleb Rowden, the state Senate president pro-tempore, says that Republicans are united on this issue.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re gonna take action on that issue,&#8221; Rowden\u00a0said. &#8220;Our caucus is very united behind the idea that minors should not have gender reassignment surgery taken before the age of 18.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Missouri is one of the few. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insider.com\/states-considering-bills-ban-gender-affirming-healthcare-transgender-youth-2023-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">22 state legislatures<\/a> Examining the potential risks of gender reassignment therapy on minors. Utah&#8217;s Spencer Cox (R.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/latest-news\/utah-bans-puberty-blockers-and-gender-transitioning-surgeries-for-minors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The first governor<\/a>\u00a0Sign such legislation into law.
