His claims were tantamount to accusing Democrats that they support a \u201cplan\u201d Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez once proposed to close down air travel <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2019\/02\/07\/ten-most-insane-requirements-green-new-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">It was suggested<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The president was referring to Rick Scott\u2019s ill-timed \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/rescueamerica.com\/12-point-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">12 Point Plan to Rescue America<\/a>,\u201d This included, among many other non-starters, a proposal that all federal spending programs be canceled every five years. The proposal had no support from Republicans and nothing to do with, despite Biden\u2019s claim, the debt ceiling fight.<\/p>\n<p>None of that means that asking Congress to reauthorize federal spending bills every few years isn\u2019t a great idea. Why would stalwarts ask Congress to reauthorize federal spending bills every few years? \u201cdemocracy\u201d Do you oppose the idea of revisiting spending decisions made nearly 90 years ago by legislators? These decisions were never voted on by anyone living. <\/p>\n<p>Thought \u201cliberals\u201d are far more protective of Social Security than the Bill of Rights, entitlement\u00a0programs aren\u2019t foundational governing ideas, they do not protect our natural rights, nor are they at the heart of the American project. It is actually counter to all of it.<\/p>\n<p>Each year, there are hundreds of thousands private-sector businesses <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zippia.com\/answers\/how-many-small-businesses-close-each-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Go out of business<\/a>Yet, not one federal program does. Although nearly every aspect of society is open to cost-saving efficiency, the federal government grows inexorably. It is insane.<\/p>\n<p>Simply as a function of good governance, it would be reasonable for Congress to review the efficacy and cost of existing federal programs, and then make suggestions for reforms or elimination or \u2014 yikes \u2014 privatization. Forget entitlements. Is there any reason we shouldn\u2019t revisit the billions spent on the obsolete Natural Resource Conservation Service (created in 1935 to help farmers deal with soil corrosion) or the Rural Electrification Administration (created in the same year, when large swaths of rural Americans did not have electricity) or the counterproductive Small Business Administration or the subsidy sucking Amtrak corporation?<\/p>\n<p>There is widespread support for Social Security \u2014 a Bismarckian import, first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/history\/longsen.html\">championed<\/a> To increase retirement, Huey Long and other corrupt populists have been operating in the country. This is likely because Americans were forced by the state into contributing to the pyramid scheme. This program is popular because it allows people to plan their retirements. They are forced to. <\/p>\n<p>Leftist policies are characterized by the use of coercion, whether it&#8217;s for entitlements or Obamacare, unionization or public school systems. And by forcing participation, we\u2019ve created a generational trap. Voters are being fearmongered into believing that any reform is stealing something from them. However, no serious proposal has ever reduced existing benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Biden was a senator in the 1970s. <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/3850207-biden-once-offered-budget-bill-strikingly-similar-to-rick-scotts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">supported<\/a> Re-uppen the federal spending authorization once every four years, and require Congress to \u201cmake a detailed study of the program before renewing it.\u201d Obviously, Biden hasn\u2019t stuck to a single principled position in his entire career.
