But over the past two years, we proved the cynics and naysayers wrong,\u201d Biden said. \u201cTo my Republican friends, if we could work together in the last Congress, there\u2019s no reason we can\u2019t work together and find consensus on important things in this Congress as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then he became a scoundrel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo my \u2014 many of \u2014 some of my Republican friends want to take the economy hostage \u2014 I get it \u2014 unless I agree to their economic plans. All of you at home should know what those plans are. Instead of making the wealthy pay their fair share, some Republicans \u2014 some Republicans want Medicare and Social Security to sunset. I\u2019m not saying it\u2019s a majority \u2013\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>AUDIENCE: Booo \u2014<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>THE PRESIDENT: Let me give you \u2014<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>AUDIENCE: No!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>THE PRESIDENT I\u2019ll give you a copy. I\u2019ll give you a copy of the proposal.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>But that Hasn\u2019t happened. Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) <em>has<\/em> A plan of 11 points was presented that included a proposal to allow federal legislation to expire after five years. If the legislation is successful, Congress could simply renew them.<\/p>\n<p>However, Democrats love their Democrats \u201cMediscare.\u201d They love telling the American people that the GOP is going to attack the most vulnerable in our nation \u2014 knowing full well that it\u2019s not true.<\/p>\n<p>Scott, on the other hand, is a good guy. <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/3849304-scott-doubles-down-on-sunsetting-all-federal-programs-after-bidens-jab\/\">Deleted<\/a> Biden\u2019s accusations as a \u201cdishonest move\u201d By a \u201cvery confused president.\u201d \u201cI will not be intimidated by Joe Biden twisting my words,\u201d He concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Pence was also a former vice president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are modest reforms in entitlements that can be done without disadvantaging anybody at the point of the need,\u201d Pence <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/finance\/3843718-pence-weve-got-to-have-a-conversation-about-reforming-social-security\/\"><\/a> Last week. That isn\u2019t exactly doing away with the entitlement programs.<\/p>\n<p>Pence also suggested the U.S. government permit younger Americans to save a part of their Social Security Withholdings. But that idea was dropped by George W. Bush&#8217;s proposal in the aughts.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Mike Lee (R.UT) went further. In 2010, he stated that it \u201cwill be my objective to phase out Social Security, to pull it up by the roots and get rid of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He walked back that way after backlash.https:\/\/www.heraldextra.com\/news\/2022\/oct\/29\/in-his-own-words-a-convesation-with-sen-mike-lee\/&#8221;>proposing<\/a> a privatization plan similar to Pence\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>In an effort to cut costs, other Republicans suggested raising the Medicare eligibility threshold to 67 years old and Social Security to 70. Republicans joined Democrats in increasing Social Security by 14% in 2023 budget. Medicare will see a $32 Billion increase, bringing its total spending on benefits to $1 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>So Republicans don\u2019t really want to do away with either program. Biden was in a panic, and he screamed as he spoke. \u201cThose benefits belong to the American people. They earned it. And if anyone tries to cut Social Security \u2026 if anyone tries to cut Medicare, I\u2019ll stop them. I\u2019ll veto it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd, look, I\u2019m not going to allow them to take away \u2014 be taken away. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Well, no one\u2019s trying to do that, Mr. President.
