He said Wednesday that he was wrong to drastically change border policy and not have a plan to deal with the consequences.<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo made the remarks during his most recent episode <a href=\"https:\/\/quakemedia.com\/show\/as-a-matter-of-fact-with-andrew-cuomo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">podcast<\/a> \u2014 \u201cAs a Matter of Fact \u2026\u201d \u2014 and he even went so far as to say that \u201cthe southern states were right\u201d They warned Biden to not undo the policies of former President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a mistake for President Biden to open the border without having a plan to handle the tremendous flow of people,\u201d Cuomo explained, adding, \u201cPresident Biden had said he would do it in the campaign \u2014 but you can\u2019t change a policy unless you have the program in place to manage the change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo\u2019s criticism was not necessarily an attack on the Biden administration\u2019s goals with regard to immigration reform \u2014 but rather, he argued that Biden\u2019s team\u00a0had made it clear that they either did not anticipate or failed to mitigate the \u201cconsequences of enacting those promises\u201d That he had done during the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The disgraced former governor had equal criticism for the border states who had responded to the crisis by busing illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities, but he did acknowledge that Biden\u2019s border policies had created an unnecessary hardship for them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe southern states were right that opening the border created a tremendous hardship for them to handle. They were right that the federal government was not prepared,\u201d He said that he added, \u201cThis is a federal problem. Immigration is a federal responsibility. \u2026 The border is not just the gateway for people, but for drugs. This is on top of a homeless problem that had already strained resources in urban areas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo went on to say that his successor, Governor Kathy Hochul (D-NY) should have stepped in to assist when immigrants were bused into New York City \u2014 rather than leaving Mayor Eric Adams to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/this-is-a-free-for-all-nyc-hotel-worker-describes-chaos-as-migrants-have-trashed-rooms-brought-in-drugs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Handle the situation<\/a> on his own \u2014 and appeared to throw support behind Vice President Kamala Harris\u2019 plan to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/vp-harris-funnels-money-into-central-american-job-creation-in-effort-to-slow-illegal-immigration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Funding funnel investments<\/a> In Central American companies to stop illegal immigration from one source.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) let President Joe Biden have it over the ongoing crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, saying on Wednesday that he had been wrong to dramatically change border policy without having a good plan in place to mitigate the potential fallout of those changes.
