However, the 80-year-old president has his critics, including <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/guybenson\/2023\/02\/07\/hoo-boy-kamala-brutalized-by-fellow-dems-in-nyt-biden-brutalized-in-multiple-new-polls-n2619217\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Other Democrats<\/a>As <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/madelineleesman\/2023\/02\/06\/ap-norc-poll-n2619213\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Polls reveal<\/a>, as well as allies in the mainstream media. The New York Times published Michelle Goldberg\u2019s opinion piece &#8220;Biden\u2019s&#8221; on February 6, just before the address.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/02\/06\/opinion\/biden-shouldnt-run-2024.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0A Great President. He Should Not Run Again<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Goldberg&#8217;s piece reads like a true Democratic sycophant \u2013 this is The New York Times, after all \u2013 as she highlights Biden&#8217;s supposed successes and bashes &#8220;the MAGA movement.&#8221; However, this makes Goldberg&#8217;s concerns more worthwhile.<\/p>\n<p>Biden is not a young 80-year old, but his age is an important factor. It&#8217;s amazing to see how in-tune Goldberg with such a concern.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>There are many reasons to stick with Biden. Biden has the advantage of being incumbent, as well as his record. Primaries are exhausting, expensive, and often bruising. It would have been a waste of time for the Democratic Party to endure one if Biden was only a few more years old.<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s hard to ignore the toll of Biden\u2019s years, no matter how hard elected Democrats try. In some ways, the more sympathetic you are to Biden, the harder it can be to watch him stumble over his words, a tendency that can\u2019t be entirely explained by his stutter. [Sarah] Longwell claimed that Democrats in her group said that they held their breath whenever he spoke. Biden was able, in 2020, to campaign virtually, but in 2024 it will be almost certain that we will return to a difficult real-world campaign schedule. This would require him to continue running the country. It\u2019s a herculean task for a 60-year-old and a near impossible one for an octogenarian.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Although Trump is an ex-presidential candidate and is now 78, Goldberg seems skeptical that he will be the Republican nominee. It would be someone younger in that instance, especially if it is Gov. Ron DeSantis (R.FL), the candidate that Democrats are <em>Really<\/em> Be concerned about the following: <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/guybenson\/2023\/02\/06\/florida-desantis-n2619123\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Guy highlighted<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Goldberg made this point in her piece. &#8220;chances are good that Biden&#8217;s competitor will be someone much younger, like Ron DeSantis, who will be 46 in 2024,&#8221; She then acknowledged the reality of the country&#8217;s future in 2024. &#8220;Barring some radical shift in the national mood, the candidates will be vying for leadership of a deeply dissatisfied country desperate for change. For Democrats, the visual contrast alone could be devastating,&#8221; She agrees.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Goldberg concludes her piece partly by pointing at other names. Vice President Kamala Harris, however, isn&#8217;t quite among them. Guy <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/guybenson\/2023\/02\/07\/hoo-boy-kamala-brutalized-by-fellow-dems-in-nyt-biden-brutalized-in-multiple-new-polls-n2619217\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">This is also addressed<\/a> The outlet also published a deep dive report that highlighted concerns about Harris&#8217; nomination. This case shows that Goldberg actually seems to welcome a primary.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Given all the success Biden claims, this time it would be a sign that Biden is strong to not run again. &#8220;He&#8217;ll cement it if he has the uncommon wisdom to know when the time has come for a valediction, not a relaunch,&#8221; She closes her piece.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Monday&#8217;s opinion article is not the first time Goldberg or the outlet have voiced concerns about Biden. Goldberg wrote last July, &#8220;&#8230;&#8221;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/07\/11\/opinion\/joe-biden-too-old.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Joe Biden is Too Old to be President Again.<\/a>&#8220;That opinion piece appeared not long after The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/spencerbrown\/2022\/06\/12\/ny-times-democrats-are-looking-to-jettison-biden-for-2024-n2608585\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Publiziert<\/a> Minimum two other pieces <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/rebeccadowns\/2022\/06\/28\/dems-once-more-in-disarray-as-nyt-reports-biden-irked-by-party-members-questioning-his-plans-for-2024-n2609486\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Highlighting issues with<\/a> Biden will run in 2024 and their news section won&#8217;t be the least bit.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This article by Goldberg featured in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/2023\/02\/08\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Wednesday morning edition<\/a> RealClearPolitics\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Despite the fact that mainstream media and Democratic voters are not normally friendly, there are still people who fully support what will be Biden&#8217;s reelection campaign.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Jim Clyburn, a former House Majority Whip who is currently the House Assistant Democratic leader, spoke to CNN Wednesday morning about the address. He also discussed what the implications of the address are for 2024. Clyburn laughed and responded. &#8220;I think so, and I certainly hope so,&#8221; When asked, Tuesday night was Tuesday &#8220;the beginning of Biden&#8217;s run for 2024.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;&#8221;Let&#8217;s finish the job,'&#8221; Clyburn mentioned a line from Biden\u2019s address before continuing to say. &#8220;I think that was a great refrain, and I do believe he&#8217;s led a tremendous foundation for doing that, and I think the American people will respond very positively.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The polls, however, suggest otherwise.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Clyburn, who is now 82, is also largely responsible for Biden&#8217;s victory in the South Carolina primary on March 2020.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">&#8220;I thought it was the best effort I have seen from him in a long, long time.&#8221;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepJamesClyburn?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@RepJamesClyburn<\/a> He believes that Biden&#8217;s SOTU could serve as a preview of 2024 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0b2i9CppGy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pic.twitter.com\/0b2i9CppGy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CNN This Morning (@CNNThisMorning) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CNNThisMorning\/status\/1623310869458288640?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">February 8, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After delivering his Tuesday night State of the Union address on Tuesday, President Joe Biden will soon announce his plans to reelect himself in 2024.
