Tejera fell after he allegedly got up from the seat and walked outside to get his meals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe server said that he collapsed in the corner, right here outside the restaurant,\u201d According to reports, an employee at the restaurant told the Post. \u201cIt was terrible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His wife, Veronica, was arrested hours after his death for child endangerment, with police saying the couple left their two daughters \u2014 a 2-year-old and a 5-month-old \u2014 in a hotel room for an \u201cextended period of time,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2022\/tv\/news\/dax-tejers-wife-arrested-child-endangerment-1235476583\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reports <\/a>Variety. Veronica defended herself, saying she asked her parents to watch her kids while she was at the hospital, but the hotel wouldn\u2019t let them in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had two cameras trained on my children as they slept, and I monitored them closely in the time I was away from them,\u201d She spoke to the Post. \u201cWhile the girls were unharmed, I realize that it was a poor decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After stints at Fusion, MSNBC and NBC News, Tejera joined ABC News as a reporter in 2017.
