These include hate crime, firearms, and conspiracy. His lawyers stated that he intends to plead guilty last month after federal prosecutors said they would not seek death penalty. <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/mexico-united-states-government-patrick-crusius-texas-el-paso-a2a924593883056af3782f33e3200fee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI plead guilty,\u201d In El Paso, the man said these words. The courtroom was packed with relatives and friends of the victims killed in the shooting that occurred three-and a half years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Although the U.S. prosecution does not plan to press for the death penalty against the man, it is possible that he could still face the death penalty. The state charges against him carry the possibility of capital punishment if he is found guilty. The defendant has pleaded guilty to the charges.<\/p>\n<p>Federal prosecutors propose that the defendant receive 90 consecutive life sentences in prison. Joe Spencer, the defense attorney, stated that Spencer wanted his client to take full responsibility for the shooting and start serving his sentence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re glad that it\u2019s finally done,\u201d Spencer said that according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elpasotimes.com\/story\/news\/crime\/2023\/02\/08\/patrick-crusius-pleads-guilty-el-paso-walmart-shooting-hate-crime-charges\/69881963007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">El Paso Times<\/a>. \u201cAnd he\u2019s glad that it is finally done. There are no winners in this case. He\u2019s going to be serving 90 consecutive life sentences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The confessed shooter drove from Allen in a suburb of Dallas to El Paso the day before the massacre. He posted information online about his journey to El Paso after reaching the city. \u201cHispanic invasion\u201d Texas, the prosecutors stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis attack is a response to the Hispanic invasion of Texas. They are the instigators, not me. I am simply defending my country from cultural and ethnic replacement brought on by the invasion,\u201d According to some reports, the man wrote in a document entitled \u201cThe Inconvenient Truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After posting the message he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elpasotimes.com\/story\/news\/2023\/02\/08\/el-paso-walmart-shooting-suspect-patrick-crusius-guilty-plea-updates\/69881966007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Taken<\/a> a rifle and hundreds of rounds of ammunition and shot dozens inside a local Walmart and in the store\u2019s parking lot. The rampage resulted in 23 deaths and many more injuries. Shortly thereafter, the shooter surrendered quickly to law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>Texas Governor Greg Abbott <a href=\"https:\/\/gov.texas.gov\/news\/post\/governor-abbott-statement-on-second-anniversary-of-el-paso-shooting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">issued<\/a> A statement was made on the two-year mark of the shooting. It called it a &#8220;Another Year.&#8221; \u201cheinous and senseless act of violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo years ago today, a heinous and senseless act of violence destroyed countless lives in the El Paso community. As we dealt with the aftermath of the horrific violence and overwhelming grief, we also saw the true spirit of what it means to be a Texan,\u201d Abbott said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople from every corner of the Lone Star State banded together to support and uplift El Pasoans during their time of loss.
