While he was out of the house, she allegedly strangled her children \u2013 ages 5, 3, and 8 months \u2013 with exercise bands, killing the older children and sending the youngest to a hospital, where he died later.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe defendant did not take advantage of the situation when her husband left the home that night,\u201d Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Sprague said during Clancy\u2019s arraignment on Tuesday. \u201cShe created the situation. And she used Apple Maps to make sure she had enough time to strangle each child before her husband returned from where she sent him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sprague said that each child had to be killed within four minutes and that Clancy informed a psychiatrist that Clancy did not believe her. \u201ckilled the kids because she heard a voice\u201d  \u201chad \u2018a moment of psychosis.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clancy\u2019s husband, Patrick, said during the hearing that his wife only used the word \u201cpsychosis\u201d After speaking with a doctor that was hired by her defense lawyer, the Beast reported.<\/p>\n<p>Clancy was not guilty of any criminal offense, the defense claims. She pleaded not guilty in two counts of murder, three of strangulation and three of assault and battery using a dangerous weapon. People Magazine <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/crime\/mass-mom-3-lindsay-clancy-allegedly-strangled-kids-heard-voice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Clancy arrived at her arraignment on her hospital bed. After she attempted suicide, she was left paralyzed below the waist. Before jumping, she also cut her wrists.<\/p>\n<p>Patrick reported that he returned home to find his house quiet. Clancy, his injured leg, was discovered by Patrick as he searched the yard for the children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat did you do? Where are the kids?\u201d The prosecution stated that he did ask.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, his wife replied. \u201cIn the basement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patrick called 911 to report that Patrick found the children trapped in the basement with their exercise bands around their necks.<\/p>\n<p>Clancy was said to have had \u201csuicidal ideations in December of 2022 \u2026 and on one occasion had thoughts of harming her children,\u201d According to People, the prosecution stated that she had committed herself to a Boston psychiatric hospital on January 1. According to the prosecution, she was committed to Boston&#8217;s psychiatric hospital on Jan. 1, but was released on Jan 5.
