People familiarized with the matter.\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/hunter-biden-case-decision-paused-amid-discussions-between-defense-lawyers-and-prosecutors-11665094544\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Telled<\/a>\u00a0The\u00a0<em>Wall Street Journal<\/em>\u00a0in October that Hunter\u2019s drug abuse could be a scapegoat the defense could successfully use to defend the president\u2019s son against potential charges.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p class=\"paywall\">Hunter\u2019s drug abuse as a successful defense remains to be seen. Critics say Hunter\u2019s drug abuse did not prevent him from raking in millions of dollars from foreign business deals while his father was an American official, offering no real work in return. Others simply argue Hunter\u2019s drug abuse appeared to not inhibit his ability to influence peddling to the White House.<\/p>\n<p>There are still questions about whether Joe Biden&#8217;s family will indict him for any wrongdoing.
