While 64% may not seem stellar, this actually ranks him as the country\u2019s fifth most popular governor in-office.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Manchin has an approval rating of 40% at the moment. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/joe-manchin-jim-justice-west-virginia-polls-senate-2024\">according<\/a> to <em>The Washington Examiner<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Could this show that if Justice enters the race, that could spell the end for Manchin\u2019s time in Washington?<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;If Joe [Manchin] and I were running today, I&#8217;d win,&#8221; West Virginia Gov. I know really and truly that they\u2019ve been left in the dust and they really believe in me and trust me,\u201d Justice said in an<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/jim-justice-2024-senate-decision-february-joe-manchin-west-virginia\/\"> interview<\/a> with CBS News recently. As of this writing, he has promised to make a choice by the end of February.<\/p>\n<p>Justice first entered the Governor\u2019s mansion in 2016 initially as a lifelong Democrat, however he surprised many of his constituents and caught the eye of the country when he announced on stage with former President Donald Trump that he\u2019d be leaving the Democrats to officially serve as a Republican. While this was a controversial move, he ended up winning his reelection as a Republican in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>While Manchin has been known to hold back many of the border-line socialist policies of the Democrats, he has caved in to Biden\u2019s progressive agenda on issues such as taxation and inflation, both major issues voters are focusing on as the economy continues to struggle.<\/p>\n<p>Manchin was one of the swing votes that held up Biden\u2019s Inflation Reduction Act, but later after a few concessions were made, voted to pass the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/01\/09\/house-republicans-irs-funding-00077116\">unpopular<\/a> bill.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-block full\">\n[embedded content]\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/ted-cruz-joe-manchin-introduce-bipartisan-bill-blocking-biden-ban-on-gas-stoves\/\">Ted Cruz, Joe Manchin Introduce Bipartisan Bill Blocking Biden Ban on Gas Stoves<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>A Potential Power Shift<\/h3>\n<p>While Democrats may have maintained their Senate majority after the 2022 midterms, now many are having to deliver on their promises to manage inflation and return the economy to a sense of normalcy while continuing to carry water for the many challenges the Biden Administration is facing, especially running up to 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Losing a Senate seat in West Virginia would certainly cause issues for the party federally, but as of now there are no ultra-progressive candidates jumping in to primary \u201cmoderate\u201d Manchin who, while still is largely unpopular with mainstream Democrats, is still considered the \u2018safe\u2019 bet in West Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>Justice has promised that should he decide to seek the Senate seat Manchin currently sits in, he will be a \u201creliably Republican\u201d vote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m rock-solid as a Republican and being entrenched in those values,\u201d Justice had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/west-virginia-justice-decide-senate-bid-end-month\">told<\/a> the press. \u201cI\u2019m a patriot. I really am.
