Sheila Jackson Lee in January. The bill is the most unconstitutional piece of legislation in years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/house-bill\/61\/text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Leading Against White Supremacy Act<\/a>\u00a0These are the goals \u201cprevent and prosecute white supremacy inspired hate crime and conspiracy to commit white supremacy inspired hate crime and to amend title 18, United States Code, to expand the scope of hate crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the bill proposal \u201cA person engages in a white supremacy inspired hate crime when white supremacy ideology has motivated the planning, development, preparation, or perpetration of actions that constituted a crime or were undertaken in furtherance of activity that, if effectuated, would have constituted a crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In other words, Jackson Lee\u2019s legislation would make any crime or an attempt to commit a crime that is arguably \u201cmotivated\u201d By white supremacy ideology, a hate crime would be considered a crime that is punishable by a more severe penalty than other crimes. \u201chate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This provision by itself is very problematic. Jackson Lee does not define what Jackson Lee means by &#8220;ideological views that are rooted in white supremacy&#8221;. \u201cwhite supremacy ideology\u201d In the bill, there are many interpretations possible that could lead to unjustified increases in legal punishments for defendants in court.<\/p>\n<p>Jackson Lee\u2019s legislation doesn\u2019t stop there, however. The legislation&#8217;s most important component is its \u201cconspiracy\u201d It would be illegal. \u201cpublish\u201d material that inspires a crime deemed to be motivated by white supremacy \u2014 which, again, is not defined by the bill. The legislation lists \u201csocial media platforms\u201d It is a form o publication.<\/p>\n<p>According to the provisions in Jackson Lee\u2019s bill, if a social media user were to post an article, video, or even just a short message on a website such as Facebook or Twitter, that person could be convicted of committing \u201ca conspiracy to engage in white supremacy inspired hate crime\u201d If another person consumes the material, and then commits a crime motivated to white supremacy.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t appear to matter how crazy or mentally ill the person committing the crime is, either. So, under the bill, if a deranged mass shooter allegedly inspired\u00a0by white supremacy TikTok videos and Facebook posts kills several people, any of the \u201cwhite supremacy\u201d Materials \u201cread, heard, or viewed\u201d The shooter may make the person who uploaded those materials guilty for conspiracy.<\/p>\n<p>You might think this applies only to those with extreme views and political opinions about white supremacy. But recent history has shown that many left-leaning individuals have a broad, very deep understanding of the subject. \u201cwhite supremacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For example, the National Education Association, America\u2019s largest teachers union,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nea.org\/resource-library\/white-supremacy-culture-resources\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Claim<\/a>\u00a0This is despite \u201cwhite supremacy culture\u201d It is usually \u201cassociated with violence perpetrated by the KKK and other white supremacist groups, it also describes a political ideology and systemic oppression that perpetuates and maintains the social, political, historical and\/or industrial white domination.\u201d The NEA also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nea.org\/resource-library\/white-supremacy-culture-resources\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Claim<\/a>, \u201cOrganizations that are led by people of color or have a majority of people of<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Leftist scholars and journalists argue the U.S. Constitution is a \u2018white supremacy\u2019 document.
