News<\/a>: &#8220;Republicans pounce on Biden over appearance of Chinese spy balloon&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/republicans-paint-biden-soft-china-surveillance-balloon-soars\/story?id=96874306\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ABC News<\/a>: &#8220;Republicans paint Biden as soft on China as surveillance balloon soars over US&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>(Yes, that headline from ABC News is true. This is not a joke.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why it is important<\/strong>This is the way that mainstream media cover stories that are negative about Democratic politicians. They don&#8217;t want to cover the scandal, so they frame the story using the Republican response and suggest that any GOP criticisms are overblown or made in bad faith.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s going where it needs to be<\/strong>: It is unlikely that mainstream journalists would be unwilling to go to great lengths to protect their Democratic Party allies. There are no scandals too grave to warrant balanced and fair coverage.
