The Washington Free Beacon <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/freights-for-skates-labor-sec-considers-leaving-biden-admin-for-nhl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> Walsh indicated last week that he was thinking of leaving the administration to take up a union job.<\/p>\n<p>Walsh, who was a friend and an ally of President Joe Biden before running Boston unions and becoming the mayor in 2014, faced controversies in both positions. Walsh&#8217;s role in brokering the September election has been praised by the White House. &#8220;compromise between freight rail carriers and unions,&#8221; Politico observed that rail unions later rejected this compromise.<\/p>\n<p>Julie Su is Walsh&#8217;s possible successor and deputy. She faces her own controversy. As California labor secretary, Su &#8220;oversaw an unemployment website plagued by glitches,&#8221; Which &#8220;paid out billions of dollars of fraudulent\u00a0claims,&#8221; The Free Beacon <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/bidens-pick-for-top-labor-spot-oversaw-fraudulent-broken-unemployment-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. California&#8217;s state auditor accused Su&#8217;s Department of mishandling the payments. &#8220;in large part because Su had waived eligibility considerations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With Republicans taking over control of the House, Walsh would have faced significant congressional oversight&#8221; Politico reported that Virginia Foxx, the chairwoman of House Education and Workforce Committee, has criticized Walsh for joining a picket line in October 2021. Walsh disagreed. &#8220;not remain an objective observer of what&#8217;s happening, going and getting on the picket lines.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Biden&#8217;s labor secretary is the latest to resign. Eric Lander, the former chief science adviser, resigned last year following bullying allegations.
