He was convicted and sentenced at 3.5 years imprisonment with a fine.<\/p>\n<p>Busch posted the information in a Facebook statement Monday. He stated that the incident took place in January while he was traveling to the United States after a vacation. He forgot his gun was inside his bag.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn late January, Samantha and I enjoyed a several day vacation in Mexico. When departing the country, my handgun was flagged during routine screening at the airport,\u201d He said. \u201cI have a valid concealed carry permit from my local authority and adhere to all handgun laws, but I made a mistake by forgetting it was in my bag.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDiscovery of the handgun led to my detainment while the situation was resolved,\u201d He continued. \u201cI was not aware of Mexican law and had no intention of bringing a handgun into Mexico. When it was discovered, I fully cooperated with the authorities, accepted the penalties, and returned to North Carolina. I apologize for my mistake and appreciate the respect shown by all parties as we resolved the matter. My family and I consider this issue closed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Mexico Prosecutor General\u2019s Office issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20230207001325\/http:\/\/www.fgr.org.mx\/en\/FGR\/Estatal\/_rid\/61\/_mod\/story?p=1&amp;ord=desc&amp;f=0&amp;categoria=Estatal&amp;suri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.FGR.swb%23fgr_Boletin%3A7077\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Statement<\/a> It stated last week that it had charged the matter and was convicted \u201cKyle Thomas B\u201d In connection with the incident.
