The <a href=\"https:\/\/lis.virginia.gov\/cgi-bin\/legp604.exe?231+sum+HB2432\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">final vote<\/a> They came along <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/1776ProjectPac\/status\/1623062079216185347?s=20&#038;t=KiEXNQ_kndsKQEhDM-U3vw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Parties<\/a>The measure was supported by 50 Republicans and opposed by 48 Democrats<\/p>\n<p>Also known as \u201cSage\u2019s Law,\u201d The legislation<a href=\"https:\/\/lis.virginia.gov\/cgi-bin\/legp604.exe?231+sum+HB2432\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HB 2432<\/a>() was named for a 14-year old girl in Virginia who became a victim to sex slavery after her school kept her gender dysphoria secret from her mother. As The Federalist previously reported\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/01\/19\/virginia-teen-sex-trafficked-twice-after-school-hides-gender-identity-from-her-parents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>Sage, who identified himself as a boy in August 2021, began to experience bullying and harassment at school. Sage ran away, but was discovered in Maryland a week later as a victim to sexual assault.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/lis.virginia.gov\/cgi-bin\/legp604.exe?231+sum+HB2432\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Summary<\/a> If a school official is not in compliance with the law, \u201chas reason to believe\u201d Student \u201cis self-identifying as a gender different from the student\u2019s biological sex,\u201d This official is required \u201cto contact as soon as practicable at least one of such student\u2019s parents to ask whether such parent is aware of the student\u2019s mental state and whether the parent wishes to obtain or has already obtained counseling for such student.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>School officials are also prohibited from the bill. \u201cencouraging or coercing a minor to withhold from the minor\u2019s parent the fact that the minor\u2019s perception of his or her gender or sex is inconsistent with the minor\u2019s biological sex\u201d Oder \u201cwithholding from a minor\u2019s parent information relating to the minor\u2019s perception that his or her gender or sex is inconsistent with the minor\u2019s biological sex.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among the Virginia Democrats who voted against Sage\u2019s Law is Del. Danice A. Roem, a man proclaiming to be a woman who argued that passage of the legislation would put children\u2019s lives at risk.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Speaker, if the delegate would like examples of children who have been forced out of their homes \u2026 go down the street to [Richmond LGBTQ+ youth center] Side By Side, go to Virginia Beach, and talk to one of the youth homeless centers there,\u201d Roem\u00a0said. \u201cIf you want experiences, if you wanna hear lived experiences from the very kids who this bill would affect, go talk to the kids who were kicked out of their homes and who were beaten for being outed against their own will.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The following is an extract from the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/02\/07\/democrats-virginia-government-intervene-families-transgender-children\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Daily Caller<\/a>Republican Del.
