This has reduced his ability to pass legislation at the same rate as his first two terms. As the economy recovers from the lockdown-induced recession, however, Biden has adopted a rosy economic outlook that presents a misleading picture of the nation\u2019s business and consumer climate.<\/p>\n<p>Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/POTUS\/status\/1622965916282793984\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Claim<\/a> Before his speech, the United States witnessed the \u201cfastest gas price decline in eight years\u201d The annualized headline inflation that has declined is \u201csix months\u201d His economic policies. Both claims ignored the fact that energy prices and overall price rises were much lower when he was in control of Oval Office.<\/p>\n<p>The national average gas price was $3.49\/gallon at the beginning of January 2023 according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/dnav\/pet\/hist\/LeafHandler.ashx?n=PET&#038;s=EMM_EPMR_PTE_NUS_DPG&#038;f=W\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Data<\/a> The Energy Information Administration reported a 47% increase in prices from $2.38 per gallon back in January 2021. Before their moderation in Biden, prices reached $5.01 per gallon on June 2022. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-to-release-more-oil-from-strategic-reserve-ahead-of-midterms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Released<\/a> Even though nearly half the Strategic Petroleum Reserve was already in use before the midterm elections, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/top-wall-street-ceo-slams-biden-for-going-hat-in-hand-to-saudi-arabia-for-oil-admits-investors-dont-give-a-s-about-wokeness\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Frequently Asked Questions<\/a> Oil production by the United States is increased by hostile regimes, such as Venezuela and Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not fair to blame Biden for the rapid rise, but it\u2019s also not fair to credit him for the decline,\u201d Norbert Michel, vice president and director of the Cato Institute\u2019s Center for Monetary and Financial Alternatives, told The Daily Wire. \u201cIt\u2019s statistical malfeasance to tout the most rapid decline in eight years while ignoring the largest, most rapid rise in the last decade.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite recent declines in headline inflation due to lower energy prices, food and shelter costs continue to rise despite this. According to The Associated Press, December 2022 saw 6.5% year-over\u2013year inflation. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/the-tide-has-turned-inflation-sees-largest-drop-since-2020-lockdowns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Data<\/a> According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics in December 2020, the rate was nearly five times that of 1.4%.<\/p>\n<p>Biden claimed also that he presided at a \u201crecord decrease\u201d in deficit spending. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/fred.stlouisfed.org\/series\/FYFSD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Data<\/a> From the Office of Management and Budget, the author neglected to mention the fact that record spending was a result of legislation passed in order to reduce the fallout from the lockdown-induced depression. Last year&#8217;s deficit was still much higher than those seen in years prior to the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClaiming credit for a record decrease in deficits when fiscal year 2022 ended with a $1.4 trillion deficit is Orwellian doublethink,\u201d Romina Buccia, director for budget and entitlement policy, at the Cato Institute, spoke to The Daily Wire. \u201cThe one thing President Biden can legitimately take credit for is how his administration\u2019s policies, such as student debt forgiveness, the American Rescue Plan, and subsidies to industries from energy to semiconductor manufacturing, will steeply increase deficits over the next decade.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden also claimed that the economy had seen the \u201ctwo strongest calendar years of job growth in history\u201d The \u201clowest unemployment rate\u201d In more than 50 years. The historically low labor force participation has left the job market in shambles. This has prompted companies and individuals to raise wages, pass on increased costs to consumers, and has contributed to inflationary pressures.
