The jamming system was used by Chinese surveillance balloons, which hid their true intentions. The news report states flatly: \u201cThe former president was never presented an opportunity to shoot balloons down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An additional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/02\/05\/trump-officials-deny-chinese-spy-balloons-00081257\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">POLITICO report<\/a> Lower-ranking officials reported that they had detected balloon activity over U.S. Territories in recent years. Citing a former top Defense Department official, the article stated that in 2020 the intelligence community had assessed the situation. \u201cmuch smaller\u201d balloons detected off of Virginia\u2019s coast were Chinese radar-jamming devices.<\/p>\n<p>After the U.S. government made public its suspicions about a Chinese reconnaissance ball hovering at high elevation over the country, Trump&#8217;s alumni began to feud with the Biden administration. A fighter jet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/u-s-military-shoots-down-chinese-spy-balloon-after-biden-let-it-travel-across-country\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shot down<\/a> Only Saturday&#8217;s balloon was visible after it flew above the Carolinas. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-02-05\/us-moves-to-recover-chinese-balloon-as-pressure-grows-to-expand-export-controls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Following the United States&#8217; rescue operation, they continued to operate<\/a>. China claims the vessel is not a spy balloon and instead denies it.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The United States has brought down the Chinese high altitude balloon. This was in the midst of a spying scandal. That\u2019s when a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/politics\/live-news\/suspected-chinese-balloon-over-us-02-04-23\/h_1f1e4d057e1aa906e5ef3b686e63527b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Senior U.S. Defense Official<\/a> first said Chinese government surveillance balloons \u201ctransited the continental United States briefly at least three times during the prior administration and once that we know of at the beginning of this administration, but never for this duration of time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump-era officials, such as the former Director of National Intelligence <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/john-ratcliffe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John Ratcliffe<\/a>  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/politics\/live-news\/suspected-chinese-balloon-over-us-02-04-23\/h_1f1e4d057e1aa906e5ef3b686e63527b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Former Defense Secretary Mark Esper<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/ratcliffe-shoots-down-claim-that-three-chinese-balloons-crossed-over-u-s-under-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Do not doubt this claim<\/a>. Trump flatly denied it. \u201cThis never happened. It would have never happened,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/trump-top-national-security-officials-refute-claim-chinese-spy-balloons-transited-us-under-last-admin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump said Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Reports quoting a senior Biden official claimed that Chinese spy balloons were seen over the United States during Trump&#8217;s administration. These were discovered after Trump was removed from office. It was then revealed that the Pentagon had briefed Congress on sightings in Texas and Florida. \u201cCurrently, we understand there were incursions near Florida and Texas, but we don\u2019t have clarity on what kind of systems were on these balloons or if these incursions occurred in territorial waters or overflew land,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MarquardtA\/status\/1622383668277682177\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said Rep.
