Biden? Zelensky? It [would have been] my problem,\u201d He stated, after earlier suggesting that he had \u201cmade sure that Israel would have free rein in Syria\u201d during his first in-person meeting with President Vladimir Putin \u2014 an ally of the Syrian and Iranian governments \u2014 prior the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201c[M]y focus is on Israel\u2019s interests\u2026 My people,\u201d Bennett said, explaining why he chose to position himself as a more non-aligned mediator between Putin and Zelensky after the outbreak of hostilities \u2014 and claiming that, without Western interference, his efforts might have succeeded.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;I asked &#8216;what&#8217;s up with this? Are you planning to kill Zelensky?&#8217; He said &#8216;I won&#8217;t kill Zelensky.&#8217; I then said to him &#8216;I have to understand that you&#8217;re giving me your word that you won&#8217;t kill Zelensky.&#8217; He said &#8216;I&#8217;m not going to kill Zelensky.'&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zIOz6ndFag\">https:\/\/t.co\/zIOz6ndFag<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1622175700651327489?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 5, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Bennett claims that Putin gave him a guarantee that he would not assassinate President Volodymyr Zelesky in the initial period of the war. This is perhaps one of the most embarrassing claims Bennett makes about the war.\u00a0\u201cin a secret bunker\u201d Before this promise was made.<\/p>\n<p>Only after Bennett informed Zelensky of this gentleman\u2019s agreement \u201cby WhatsApp or Telegram\u201dAccording to the Israeli, the Ukrainian had done it. \u201c[go] to his office and [film] himself there on his phone\u201d It is possible to say \u201cI\u2019m not afraid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">Of greater geopolitical consequence, however, is Bennett\u2019s account of his efforts to mediate a ceasefire between the two sides, which saw him fly into Russia and then Germany \u2014 despite having previously \u201cmade a point of never setting foot in Germany because of the Holocaust\u201d \u2014 in search of a compromise agreement.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Bennett claimed that he approached U.S. president Joe Biden, U.S. secretary of state Antony Blinken and U.S. national security advisor Jake Sullivan before becoming \u201ca pipeline\u201d for negotiations between Putin &#038; Zelensky. And that everything was\u00a0\u201cfully coordinated\u201d with Biden, President Emmanuel Macron of France, then-Prime Minister Boris Johnson of Britain, and Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany \u2014 who was said to be \u201cvery distressed\u201d by the impact of the war on his country\u2019s supply of Russian gas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoris Johnson adopted the aggressive line, Macron and Scholz were more pragmatic, and Biden was both,\u201d Bennett recalled that he was under the impression that Putin and Zelensky were both there \u201cvery much much wanted a ceasefire\u201d Several concessions were made.<\/p>\n<p>It was Ukraine\u2019s backers, Bennett suggested, that proved to be the stumbling block, with there being a \u201cdecision by the West to keep striking Putin\u201d Despite his conviction, at least at that time, that a ceasefire would be desirable, he continued to believe so.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI turn to America in this regard, I don\u2019t do as I please, anything I did was coordinated down to the last detail, with the U.S., Germany, and France,\u201d He said it, and his interviewer interjected to get to the point.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">\u201cSo they blocked it?\u201d He asked.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cBasically, yes. They blocked it, and I thought they\u2019re wrong. He noted the \u201cdownside[s] of the war going on\u201d including the casualties on both sides, rising energy costs, impact on food exports to the Middle East \u2014 Ukraine and Russia both being major food producers \u2014 and the potential of a renewed migrant crisis in Europe if Africa, for example, is gripped by hunger, but conceding that Western governments may have other \u201clegitimate\u201d considerations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden created an alliance vis a vis an aggressor, in the general perception, and this reflects on other arenas such as China, Taiwan, and there are consequences,\u201d Bennett stated that Bennett suggested that leaders of America and other Western powers were eager to avoid an outcome that could have been interpreted as rewarding Putin. \u201cimperialism\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have one claim, I claim there was a good chance of reaching a ceasefire, had they not curbed it,\u201d Bennett acknowledged that Bennett could not be certain if they were right or wrong, but he said that he can&#8217;t say for sure if it will turn out to be so in the long-term. \u201cMaybe [a ceasefire] would have conveyed the wrong message to other countries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps surprisingly, the Israeli expressed a certain sympathy, or at least understanding, of Putin\u2019s hostility towards NATO expanding into countries surrounding Russia after the Cold War, noting that\u00a0\u201con a sidenote, the Americans have a centuries-old doctrine called the Monroe Doctrine, whereby the hegemony over the Western Hemisphere, North and South America, belong to the USA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs early as 200 years ago they didn\u2019t want France and Britain there: \u2018Don\u2019t come here.\u2019 And to a degree that\u2019s Putin\u2019s perception: \u2018Don\u2019t come here, this is my backyard,&#8217;\u201d He elaborated.<\/p>\n<p>Putin was also praised by him, and he said so himself. \u201cvery smart, very sharp\u201d But as someone who \u201cstruck me as a pro-Semite.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe likes Jews very much.
