He was not present at the event.<\/p>\n<p>Harvey Mason Jr., Recording Academy CEO tried to quell any possible backlash from leftists about Chappelle winning the award. He noted that viewers are responsible in selecting the winners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the voters feel like a creator deserves a nomination, they\u2019re going to vote for them,\u201d He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/general-news\/dave-chappelle-grammy-netflix-the-closer-trans-controversy-1235316559\/\"><\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019re never going to be in the business of deciding someone\u2019s moral position or where we evaluate them to be on the scale of morality. I think our job is to evaluate the art and the quality of the art. We can make sure that all of our spaces are safe and people don\u2019t feel threatened by anyone. But as far as the nominations or the awards, we really let the voters make that decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chappelle\u2019s Netflix performance enraged leftists and trans activists to the point where a transgender employee at the company allegedly organized a walkout in protest of the special. Later, the employee was fired.<\/p>\n<p>A former Netflix employee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2021\/10\/15\/22728337\/netflix-fires-organizer-trans-employee-walkout-dave-chappelle\">Telled<\/a>\u00a0The Verge that the company\u2019s decision to fire the employee, who was not named, proved that \u201cblack trans people are the ones being targeted in this conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have let go of an employee for sharing confidential, commercially sensitive information outside the company,\u201d In a statement, the company stated that it had terminated the individual. \u201cWe understand this employee may have been motivated by disappointment and hurt with Netflix, but maintaining a culture of trust and transparency is core to our company.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later, Netflix launched a new company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/netflix-fires-major-warning-shot-at-its-woke-employees-with-new-culture-memo\">Culture memo<\/a> This notified employees. One section of the memo is called \u201cArtistic Expression\u201d He stated that the company would not \u201ccensor specific artists or voices\u201d Even if employees don&#8217;t consider the content, \u201charmful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019d find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you,\u201d Later, the memo stated that employees could be required work on projects they are involved in. \u201cperceive to be harmful\u201d If they find it difficult to accept their work assignments, they may want to consider other employment options.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEntertaining the world is an amazing opportunity and also a challenge because viewers have very different tastes and points of view.
