Wade<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia legislators will vote on a few life-saving bills this Monday and Tuesday. Feb. 7 marks \u201ccrossover day,\u201d With each house concluding actions on legislation except for budget bills.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate will vote Feb. 6 <a href=\"https:\/\/lis.virginia.gov\/cgi-bin\/legp604.exe?231+sum+SJ255\">SJ 255<\/a>?, \u201cRight to Abortion Amendment\u201d That would make abortion legal. \u201cfundamental right\u201d In the commonwealth. This is a state constitutional amendment <a href=\"https:\/\/vshl.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/VSHL-Right-to-Abortion-Flyer-Final-Color.pdf\">Would allow<\/a> The taxpayers must pay for abortion up until the time of birth. If the amendment passes both chambers in consecutive years, and then passes a state ballot referendum, it would become law. It would effectively repeal all pro-life laws, even those Republicans trying to pass it in this session.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/VA\/bill\/HB1795\/2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Born Alive Abortion Survivor<\/a> Del. sponsored the bill. Nick Freitas of Culpeper would require all health care providers performing abortions to provide the same care to infants who survive the procedure as to those born at the same gestational age. Del. Karen Greenhalgh, R Virginia Beach is sponsoring <a href=\"https:\/\/lis.virginia.gov\/cgi-bin\/legp604.exe?ses=231&#038;typ=bil&#038;val=HB2270\">\u201cright to know\u201d Take action<\/a>This law would apply to any provider of abortion who fails to obtain written consent from the woman before she undergoes it.<\/p>\n<p>Del. Tara Durant, R-Fredricksburg, introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/VA\/bill\/HB2476\/2023\">House Bill 2476<\/a> Virginia to increase information access to pregnant centers. This bill would allow women to have free online access after the birth of their child.<\/p>\n<p>The Virginia Society for Human Life (VSHL) estimated several thousand citizens gathered at the bell tower in Capitol Square on Feb. 1 to hear the testimonies of post-abortive women, pro-life leaders, bishops from both of Virginia\u2019s Catholic dioceses, VSHL President Olivia Gans Turner, and state Attorney General Jason Miyares. Republican Governor, Glenn Youngkin, is leading pro-life supporters. Glenn Youngkin then walked around Capitol Hill.<\/p>\n<p>The traditional show of support for life followed the state\u2019s second annual \u201cDefending Life Day,\u201d A morning of advocacy was held at the Virginia General Assembly, where over 500 pro-life constituents pressed their legislators for support for protection bills for the unborn.<\/p>\n<p> For the protection of life, it takes a hard fight <\/p>\n<p>As the 2023 General Assembly progresses, life advocates face an uphill struggle. Louise Lucas, D.Portsmouth State Senator, is leading an anti-life majority as Senate president pro Tempore. She has promised to block pro-life legislation.
