ASPS has been active in advocating for greater insurance coverage for these procedures. They argue that they are safer and better for transgender individuals.<\/p>\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/revealed-hidden-complications-of-transgender-bottom-surgeries\">genital surgeries<\/a> These are uncommon for minors, but plastic surgeons ahref=&#8221;https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/tiktoker-nearly-died-after-undergoing-affirming-double-mastectomy-from-miami-dr-sidhbh-gallagher&#8221;>amputating Healthy breasts<\/a> Teenage girls are becoming more common in the US, and around the globe. <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/1114-american-children-had-healthy-breasts-amputated-between-2016-2019-as-part-of-sex-change-treatment\">One paper<\/a> The Journal of the American Medical Association published data showing that 1130 patients were treated. &#8220;gender-affirming&#8221; Between 2016-2019, minors underwent chest surgery. Of those 1,114 were bilateral mastectomies of teenage girls who identify themselves as boys.<\/p>\n<p>A recent report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/investigates\/special-report\/usa-transyouth-data\/\">Reuters<\/a> According to insurance data, 56 genital operations and 776 mastectomies were done on minors who identified as being of the opposite sex between 2017-2019. The actual number could be higher, as the report only considered those who were diagnosed with gender dysphoria and had insurance coverage. The number of adolescents and children has also increased significantly since 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no question that financial rewards play a role in the adoption of gender affirming care. Hospitals and physicians generate substantial payments from insurers or self pay patients when children enter into the transition protocols,\u201d Dr. Stanley Goldfarb is the board chair <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/us-medical-industry-led-by-activists-not-science-in-field-of-gender-transition-for-minors\">Do no harm<\/a>The Daily Caller interviewed a group that aims to provide ethical medical care without ideology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMoreover, the pharmaceutical companies that produce the puberty blockers and gender-altering hormones also benefit from \u2018gender affirming care.\u2019 No matter what other motives come into play, there is no way that the surgical and medical activities would be embraced by various gender clinics and hospitals if they were financially harmed by these clinical activities,\u201d Goldfarb also added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s clear that both money and ideology play a role in US medical organizations\u2019 zeal for gender transition procedures for minors,\u201d Jay Richards, a senior research associate at the Devos Center, spoke to The Daily Caller. \u201cThe good news is that financial incentives can work in the other direction too. Mounting <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/detransitioned-woman-who-underwent-child-sex-change-treatment-sues-kaiser-permanente-for-damages\">lawsuits<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/rate-of-detransition-among-trans-youth-higher-than-activists-claim\">detransitioners<\/a> seeking justice could change this dynamic overnight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Grand View Research, the Daily Caller reports that the market value for gender reassignment surgeries will rise from $1.9billion in 2019 to $5 billion by 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Bilateral mastectomies for men who identify as females, and breast implants, can be performed at a cost of up to $10,000. Genital surgery costs approximately $25,000. For those who wish surgically to imitate males, facial masculinization or feminization can be offered.
