We now assess it is <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/02\/02\/chinese-spy-balloon-tracked-over-continental-us-pentagon\/\">another Chinese surveillance balloon<\/a>,\u201d Pentagon spokesperson Brig. General Pat Ryder made the statement.<\/p>\n<p>Additional<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/02\/03\/china-responds-to-suspected-spy-balloon-over-us-skies\/\"> Information about the balloon <\/a>He stated that the location was not available.<\/p>\n<p>After Pentagon officials had announced on Thursday that a second balloon was being reported, the Pentagon said that it had been seen flying above sensitive areas in the west US in order to collect information. <\/p>\n<p>Senior Pentagon officials said that the US is \u201cconfident\u201d This aircraft is from China.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n\t<\/aside>\n<p>Biden was asked for military options after being briefed. Fighter jets \u2014 including F-22s \u2014 were prepared to shoot down the balloon, but Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has so far advised against it to prevent debris from potentially causing destruction and casualties on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday the balloon was seen over 60,000 feet above Montana \u2014 home to one of America\u2019s three nuclear missile silo fields at Malmstrom Air Force Base. It continued its journey east, and was seen over Kansas City, Missouri on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile we won\u2019t get into specifics in regards to the exact location, I can tell you that the balloon continues to move eastward and is currently over the center of the continental United States,\u201d Ryder stated Friday that the balloon would likely fly over US airspace. \u201ca few days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ryder described the balloon like \u201cmaneuverable,\u201d It is important to note that \u201chas changed its course, which is again why we\u2019re monitoring it.\u201d He stated
