Mary Miller (R-IL), who is proposing a foreign land purchase moratorium to protect U.S. food security and stabilize housing prices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">Congresswoman Miller plans to reintroduce the bill Monday. \u2018\u2018Saving American Farms from Adversaries Act.\u201d The legislation would give the president power to prohibit the purchase of public or private real estate in the United States \u201cby any foreign person,\u201d including corporations and partnerships, for the five-year period after the enactment of the law. Breitbart News learned exclusively of the bill\u2019Friday, and was the first person to report the bill last summer when Miller ahref=&#8221;https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/11\/gop-bill-allow-president-ban-foreign-land-purchases-5-years\/&#8221;>introduced<\/a> It was done with Louie Gohmert, now-retired (R-TX).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>\u201cOur adversaries continue to rob our country of wealth and prosperity under Joe Biden\u2019s weak leadership. Congress must respond to the critical economic and national security threats China poses to our nation because Joe Biden refuses to put America\u2019s safety and best interests first,\u201d Miller spoke highly of the bill. It will be her first bill in the 118th Congress.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"video-src-attr\">Leland Weland Wells \/ LOCAL NEWS X \/TMX<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The bill identifies that Chinese nationals are a protected group. \u201cled foreign investments in homes in the United States for the past seven years.\u201d Miller\u2019s bill notes that \u201cforeign companies and individuals have purchased 853,813 acres of agricultural land\u201d in her own state of Illinois, \u2014 purchases that are \u201cworth approximately $6.3 billion.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\"><span>\u201cWe must put American farmers and consumers first and prevent China from buying up our farmland,\u201d Miller told Breitbart News. \u201cAs a farmer, I know that foreign land purchases are especially an issue in rural America where the Chinese Communist Party is attempting to buy land in our country to gain strategic leverage over the United States and our food supply.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>Republicans at state level are also warning against foreign land acquisitions, as Chinese companies continue their efforts to. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/national-security\/2022\/08\/04\/chinese-company-buys-300-acres-near-american-air-force-base-lawmakers-voice-national-security-concerns\/\">Buy land close to U.S. military bases<\/a>.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/clips\/2023\/01\/19\/desantis-were-looking-for-a-flat-ban-on-communist-chinese-land-purchases\/\">Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2023\/01\/20\/exclusive-special-interests-intervene-south-dakota-attempt-slow-noem-proposal-restricting-chinese-land-purchases\/\">Governor of South Dakota Kristi Noem (R).<\/a>?, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GregAbbott_TX\/status\/1614686215676084226\">Texas GOP Governor Greg Abbott<\/a>\u00a0have all said they are\u00a0considering blocking China from buying American farmland. Breitbart News previously <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/22\/report-global-investors-gobbling-up-single-family-homes-u-s-pushing-out-first-time-buyers-driving-up-housing-costs\/\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> What global investors do \u201cgobbling up\u201d middle-class suburban homes, \u201cenriching wealthy investors and turning would-be homeowners into lifetime, no-equity renters.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\"><span>According to the legislation, gentrification has also increased due to foreign investment in urban areas.\u00a0<\/span><span>This is \u201cpushing many long-time residents out of their homes, including some of our most vulnerable and poor communities,\u201d The bill will determine the amount. Additionally, \u201croughly 47 percent of rural renters pay a third or more of their income in rent each month. The Federal government has done nothing to help rural Americans deal with the rising costs in housing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Miller said that Miller \u201cmisguided effort to attract foreign investment\u201d Is \u201cdestroying the American dream for millions\u201d He pointed out other countries that have similar laws to limit foreign land purchase.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>\u201cFor example, in Macedonia foreign citizens cannot purchase agricultural land and may only lease. In Poland, foreign individuals need permission from the Ministry of International Affairs to purchase land. Mexico too has restrictions in place that put limits on foreigners\u2019 ability to purchase land. Vast foreign land purchases of American land hurts rural and urban communities alike,\u201d She said.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span>\u201cWe have an inherent responsibility to put our own citizens first, and Americans are clearly not benefiting from the current system. This allows foreign nationals to get green cards if their investments are in certain business ventures. \u201cmore stringent,\u201d It is important that the Rules of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States be followed. \u201cmore strict.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\"><span>Six months after the bill was enacted, the Comptroller General of America would have to submit to Congress a report detailing the history of foreign private and public real estate transactions in the U.S. The Comptroller General of the United States would also have to make recommendations on how to proceed. \u201cto make it easier for United States citizens and harder for foreign persons to purchase real estate located in the United States, including farm land,\u201d To provide a percentage of U.S. real estate that is owned or controlled by foreigners\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>Miller concluded by warning legislators to \u201ctake the threat of China\u2019s provocation seriously\u201d And called President Joe Biden out for pushing \u201chis America Last Agenda.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cBiden continues to push his America Last Agenda with an open southern border, continuous funding for Ukraine, Chinese-manufactured batteries, and Green New Deal policies,\u201d Miller said. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cOur country should be united on the issue of national security because we have an inherent responsibility to put our own citizens first.
