Glenn Youngkin and his ticket beat this issue like a drum then beat the Democrats as a drum. \u00a0Their dismissal of some corruption in school districts at that time was a mockery. <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/guybenson\/2022\/12\/16\/flashback-obama-dismissed-school-sexual-assault-scandal-as-phony-conservative-culture-war-n2617209\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Very poor health for those who are older<\/a>. \u00a0Democrats were elected to the state legislature after Youngkin&#8217;s victory. <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/guybenson\/2022\/01\/18\/watch-virginia-democrats-refuse-to-applaud-youngkins-line-about-parents-rights-in-education-n2601992\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Once again, signaled<\/a> They continue to be hostile towards the central role of parents in education, while Youngkin praised its importance. \u00a0The Youngkin administration has launched an investigation into the revelations that Northern Virginia&#8217;s high schools had delayed informing families about the academic honors they had earned. This was allegedly because of equity concerns. It also affected college admissions. <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/guybenson\/2023\/01\/19\/more-confessions-equity-scandal-in-blue-virginia-county-school-district-expands-again-n2618436\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Expand<\/a> investigation into <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/guybenson\/2023\/01\/16\/update-equity-scandal-in-northern-virginia-school-district-expands-again-n2618313\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">The scandal<\/a>. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Youngkin, on a separate track has introduced new legislation that would legally require schools and colleges to immediately notify students and their families about such matters in the future. \u00a0Democrats hold a narrow control of the state Senate and have decided to oppose this commonsense initiative. \u00a0They could not be more clear about which side they will take in the education battles. \u00a0They prefer unions and bureaucrats above parents and children:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Virginia Senate Education and Health Committee voted to block Gov. Glenn Youngkin\u2019s bill that would have required schools to notify students and their parents if they won national merit awards and recognition along with other college scholarship opportunities. <span>7News has been following this issue as part of their Crisis in the Classroom coverage. The bill was introduced after several Virginia schools didn\u2019t notify students of their national merit recognition in time for important college and scholarship deadlines.\u00a0<\/span><span><strong>Republicans and Senator Jeremy McPike voted in favor of the bill on the committee, but the Virginia Senate Democrat Major ultimately stopped the bill from moving forward.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wjla.com\/news\/crisis-in-the-classrooms\/virginia-governor-glenn-youngkin-bill-national-merit-awards-general-assembly-law-democrats-students-notification-recognition-fairfax-loudoun-prince-william-jeremy-pike\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Youngkin&#8217;s reaction<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cI don&#8217;t understand how anybody could object to the idea that when a student receives an award or an accolade that they are informed about it,<\/strong> and that this is just a matter of common sense&#8230;And I do believe that our General Assembly eventually will come around to common sense. And if politics are in the way here, then <strong>I would just ask our Senate Democrats to put down politics and do what&#8217;s right for Virginia&#8217;s kids.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Many politicians wrap their diverse proposals in the language that is being &#8220;for the children,&#8221; This was the result. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=H4WxSKIfX8M\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Nancy Pelosi special<\/a> For years, this bill has been described as a &#8220;simple&#8221; bill. It was killed in committee by Democrats. \u00a0It&#8217;s amazing. \u00a0It is clear that bureaucrats are a ridiculous bunch. &#8220;one-time human error&#8221; excuse for the withheld kudos (spanning <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/7NewsDC\/status\/1615917174165753867\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Minimum 17 high schools<\/a> There are many countries that have adopted an ad hoc system. &#8220;equal outcomes for all students&#8221; mantra) is a fabrication<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\" style=\"text-align: center;\">Fairfax County Public Schools \u201cthe delay in notifying National Merit Scholarship commended students was a one-time human error in the fall of 2022 only.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It appears that FCPS\u2019s claim \u2013 that this only happened in the fall of 2022 \u2013 is not true.<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/nBhAlV1lyB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/t.co\/nBhAlV1lyB<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Nick Minock (@NickMinock) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NickMinock\/status\/1620242469412798464?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">January 31, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p id=\"isPasted\">Fairfax County Public Schools spoke to 7News in late December 2022 \u201cthe delay in notifying National Merit Scholarship commended students was a one-time human error in the fall of 2022 only.\u201d <span>Is that true?\u00a0<\/span><span>It appears that Fairfax County Public Schools claim \u2013 that this only happened in the fall of 2022 \u2013 is not true.\u00a0<\/span><span>7News has found that at least one delay occurred before.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span>7News requested open records. <strong>obtained emails that show a parent in 2020 telling administrators at a Fairfax County high school that their student didn\u2019t receive notification from the school of their student\u2019s national merit recognition.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><span>A parent sent an email to Thomas Jefferson High School Science and Technology (TJ), in November 2020. \u201cwe were never notified and did not receive a letter.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This clearly wasn&#8217;t an accident. &#8220;one-time,&#8221; You can even get a one-year contract. &#8220;error.&#8221; It is unclear how long this has been going, or how many students have been affected by these inadvertent decisions. \u00a0Youngkin for his part is on the moral high ground as well as the political highground in this controversy. \u00a0These are <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GaryGrumbach\/status\/1621138501084545025\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">These are some of the most amazing numbers you will ever see<\/a> For a conservative (not only Republican) governor in a state that has trended bluer over recent decades:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\" style=\"text-align: center;\">Virginians are unsure if America is on track.
