\u2014 I\u2019ve been very clear and talked about this pretty extensively \u2014 to protect children,\u201d she said last month. \u201cI think that\u2019s what this bill does.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sanders\u2019 spokeswoman Alexa Henning echoes that claim <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2023\/02\/01\/arkansas-bills-anti-woke-crt-latinx-drag-shows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to the Washington Post<\/a>, suggesting the legislation is less about a ban and more about keeping explicit drag performances away from the eyes and ears of children.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not about \u201cbanning anything\u201d but about \u201cprotecting kids\u201d from accessing \u201csexually explicit drag shows,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Just as you wouldn\u2019t bring school-aged children to a strip club or the local bar, you wouldn\u2019t bring them to sexually-charged shows designed specifically to highlight the fact that the performer\u2019s body parts don\u2019t match their outfits.<\/p>\n<p>Henning added, \u201cOnly in the radical left\u2019s woke dystopia is it not appropriate to protect kids.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If they\u2019re not trying
