This forced Wray to appear with him on March 1, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/02\/03\/house-judiciary-chairman-jim-jordan-officially-subpoenas-department-education-miguel-cardona-school-boards-issue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Daily Caller<\/a>. According to, Jordan sent a similar note to the Department of Justice as well as Attorney General Merrick Garland. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2023\/02\/03\/exclusive-judiciary-committee-subpoenas-doj-for-documents-on-school-boards-issue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Breitbart<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Subpoenas force the officials to testify before the committee at 9 a.m. March 1. \u201cmisuse of federal criminal and counterterrorism resources\u201d related to school board meetings. The subpoenas also seek documents and communications related to Garland\u2019s October 4, 2021, memo directing the FBI to partner with local law enforcement to investigate threats against school boards and \u201cprosecute them when appropriate,\u201d Fox News.<\/p>\n<p>In the summer of 2021, parents gathered to pressure school boards over a range of issues. These included school mask mandates and inclusion of Critical Race Theory or gender studies in school materials.<\/p>\n<p>Late September saw the National School Boards Association send a letter to Department of Justice requesting federal agents to investigate threats to school board members.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCoupled with attacks against school board members and educators for approving policies for masks to protect the health and safety of students and school employees, many public school officials are also facing physical threats because of propaganda purporting the false inclusion of critical race theory within classroom instruction and curricula,\u201d The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/21098209-nsba-letter-to-president-biden-concerning-threats-to-public-schools-and-school-board-members-929211\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Let me know<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNSBA respectfully asks that a joint collaboration among federal law enforcement agencies, state and local law enforcement, and with public school officials be undertaken to focus on these threats. NSBA specifically solicits the expertise and resources of the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Secret Service, and its National Threat Assessment Center regarding the level of risk to public schoolchildren, educators, board members, and facilities\/campuses,\u201d The letter continues.<\/p>\n<p>Garland published a memo a week after NSBA had sent the letter. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/justice-department-addresses-violent-threats-against-school-officials-and-teachers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Direction<\/a> The FBI is to investigate the incidents at school board meeting. Republicans were concerned that the Biden administration used federal law enforcement to stop criticisms of COVID policies in schools.
