Sure,\u2019\u201d McConaughey has been recalled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe immediately goes, \u2018There\u2019s a movie you\u2019re considering right now. It\u2019s a romantic comedy. You have to do this or it will be one of the biggest regrets of your life. It is going to be a blast, it is going to be an incredible experience and it is going to make a bunch of money,\u2019\u201d He continued.<\/p>\n<p>The actor questioned if the studio had made the interaction convincing him. However, he ultimately concluded that the interaction was true. \u201cDid the studio hire this guy? I laughed at the thought, but I also remember taking a more serious consideration. I think I even accepted the offer the next day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While McConaughey had already starred in several big-name projects by 2003, he hadn\u2019t made the transition to starring in romantic comedies yet. The movie\u2019s producer admitted to being skeptical about casting the actor, too.<\/p>\n<p>Lynda Obst revealed to Vanity Fair that McConaughey was a pitch from a talent agent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018Well, Matthew McConaughey is so Texan, but it\u2019s kind of genius.\u2019 So that\u2019s in the back of my head. Now we\u2019re in the meeting and [then-Paramount President] Sherry [Lansing] says to Kate [Hudson], \u2018We have to bring this to a head. We have to find an actor that we both agree with,&#8217;\u201d She spoke.<\/p>\n<p>Obst recalled bringing up McConaughey\u2019s name during the discussion. \u201cAnd then Sherry said, \u2018Matthew McConaughey.\u2019 And Kate said, \u2018Matthew McConaughey.\u2019 And John Goldman said, \u2018Matthew McConaughey.\u2019 Everybody just looked at each other, and Kate said, \u2018I would do it with him.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The movie executives also discussed how Gwyneth Paltrow was initially slated to be the lead actress, but she later pulled out.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hudson stated that Hudson has no plans to make a sequel. \u201cMy hope is that [Andie and Ben] are happy, they\u2019ve got a bunch of kids, they got married, and they\u2019re still playing Bulls*** with his parents,\u201d She spoke to Vanity Fair. \u201cIf there was a sequel, I\u2019m sure there would be some conflict in there somewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Matthew McConaughey claimed during an interview published Thursday that a psychic convinced him to accept the leading role in \u201cHow to Lose a Guy in 10 Days\u201d opposite Kate Hudson.
