Fox 5 reports that Alvarez suffered a blow to the face and fell as the men fled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On Thursday, Alvarez said, \u201cI feel good,\u201d even though he said he still isn\u2019t able to chew his food. He was also concerned about the possibility of his jaw being broken, but he didn&#8217;t go to see a doctor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">New York Police Department released photos of a suspect in the assault.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Alvarez was born in Iran and immigrated to the United States during the 1960s. Later, he became a U.S. citizen. His candy shop has been in the same area since 1974. A GoFundMe was also available.https:\/\/www.fox5ny.com\/news\/east-village-community-candy-shop&#8221;>established<\/a>\u00a0To help him after he experienced financial difficulties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">During the pandemic, it cost twice as much to maintain the shop. He also had to deal with inflation, which made his life more difficult.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cI got a bill from Con Edison, they didn\u2019t come to read the meter for five months,\u201d He said it before. \u201cThe bill was $18,000.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cAll my costs doubled, from cooking oil and potatoes to electricity,\u201d Alvarez <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/11\/24\/rays-candy-store-owner-saved-by-50k-in-donations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Also, previously mentioned<\/a> Side Dish per The New York Post.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cRent is a killer. As he resides above his shop, his rent is lower.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Alvarez said that the GoFundMe set a goal of $19,470 but collected $48,986 within a week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Alvarez almost closed the shop but people who frequent the place helped him raise funds.
