No classified papers turned up in the search of Pence\u2019s offices at AAF.<\/p>\n<p>The National Archives was informed by the former vice-president of the discovery of classified documents in his home. On January 18, the National Archives informed FBI. The FBI later collected the material found at Pence\u2019s home.<\/p>\n<p>The Wall Street Journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/fbi-to-search-mike-pences-home-for-additional-classified-materials-11675356965?mod=panda_wsj_author_alert\">reported<\/a> The Justice Department is currently in negotiations with Pence to schedule an appointment to search the residence within the next few days.<\/p>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump, and former President Joe Biden are currently under criminal investigation by the Justice Department for their handling of classified materials.<\/p>\n<p>Biden&#8217;s classified documents were first discovered in his private office at Penn Biden Center, a Washington think tank, on November 2, just one week before the 2022 midterm elections. Since then, Biden\u2019s attorneys have located more classified documents at Biden\u2019s home in Wilmington, Delaware, on multiple occasions: an unspecified number found in the garage on December 20, one document found in Biden\u2019s study on January 11, and five more found in the study on January 12.<\/p>\n<p>Federal officials\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fbi-conducted-13-hour-search-of-bidens-home-found-more-classified-material\">confirmed<\/a>\u00a0two weeks ago that they found more classified material during a 13-hour FBI search of Biden\u2019s home on January 20.<\/p>\n<p>CNN\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/01\/25\/politics\/justice-department-biden-home-search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> last week that while Biden\u2019s team claimed it was cooperative in dealing with the Department of Justice, federal investigators were prepared to get a search warrant if Biden did not consent to being searched.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/merrick-garland-appoints-special-counsel-to-investigate-biden-classified-document-scandal\">appointed<\/a>\u00a0former U.S. Attorney Robert Hur \u2014 who served during the Trump administration \u2014 to serve as special counsel in the investigation after the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois John Lausch, who was assigned to do an initial review of the case, recommended to Garland that a special counsel be appointed.<\/p>\n<p><em>Tim Pearce contributed to this report.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Federal law enforcement officials are planning to search the home of former Vice President Mike Pence in the coming days after Pence\u2019s legal team found classified material inside the residence last month, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
