It says \u201c<em>every <\/em>[sic] article or thing designed, adapted, or intended for producing abortion \u2026 shall not be conveyed in the mails\u201d Anyone who \u201cknowingly takes any such thing from the mails for the purpose of circulating\u201d A federal crime has been committed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">However, the Biden administration\u2019s Office of Legal Counsel told the U.S. Postal Service refused to comply with the law.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Justice Department will be closed in December <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/olc\/opinion\/file\/1560596\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a> The law is the law \u201cdoes not prohibit the mailing, or the delivery or receipt by mail, of mifepristone or misoprostol where the sender lacks the intent that the recipient of the drugs will use them unlawfully.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">While the law does not allow the sending or gathering of abortion drugs through the mail, the administration said that it was not permitted. \u201c[t]aken literally,\u201d Conform to the letter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The attorneys general continued to state that they disagree with the statement. \u201cthe Biden administration\u2019s bizarre interpretation\u201d You are confident that the courts won&#8217;t accept it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">They also stated that abortion pills cannot be sent to or obtained by mail in several states. It is therefore not only a federal issue but one that has been decided at the state level.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThese state laws reflect not only our commitment to protecting the lives and dignity of children, but also of women,\u201d They noted. \u201cAbortion pills are far riskier than surgical abortions, according to established scientific consensus \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">They also noted that \u201cmail-order abortion pills\u201d welcome a rise in \u201ccoerced abortions,\u201d It is important to note that it is possible to obtain an abortion drug without a medical license and force a woman into taking the pill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWe emphasize that it is our responsibility as State Attorneys General to uphold the law and protect the health, safety, and well-being of women and unborn children in our states. Part of that responsibility includes ensuring that companies like yours are fully informed of the law so that harm does not come to our citizens,\u201d They came to a conclusion, in part.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This letter is sent after CVS, Walgreens and both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/02\/02\/gop-attorneys-general-warn-cvs-walgreens-against-mailing-abortion-pill-in-their-states.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a> They were going to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/01\/05\/abortion-cvs-and-walgreens-will-sell-mifepristone-in-pharmacies.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Go<\/a>\u00a0Through the sale of abortion pills, where permitted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWe are not dispensing Mifepristone at this time,\u201d Fraser Engerman, Walgreens spokesperson, said that per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/02\/02\/gop-attorneys-general-warn-cvs-walgreens-against-mailing-abortion-pill-in-their-states.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNBC<\/a>. \u201cWe intend to become a certified pharmacy under the program, however we fully understand that we may not be able to dispense Mifepristone in all locations if we are certified under the program.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">All the signed letters were signed by attorneys general from Missouri, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida and Georgia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Republican attorneys general of 20 states issued a letter to CVS and Walgreens on Wednesday, explaining the illegality of sending abortion pills through the mail.
