In a slate mailer campaign, other candidates\u2019 campaigns pay Waters&#8217; campaign to appear on endorsement mailers sent out to constituents.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/every-day-we-have-seen-this-nation-get-more-racist-rep-waters\">Waters<\/a> While he is the only national politician who uses the practice to raise money, the practice is widespread among Democrats in the Golden State.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time the congresswoman\u2019s daughter has profited off her mother\u2019s campaign. The Federal Election Commission gave the ok for the operation in the fall of 2004 and since then, Karen has\u00a0received over $1.2 million\u00a0in payments.<\/p>\n<p>Vice President <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/breaking-kamala-harris-omits-americans-right-to-life-from-declaration-of-independence-during-abortion-speech\">Kamala Harris<\/a> When she was running for California attorney general, her campaign sent $33,000 to Waters&#8217; campaign in exchange for a slate mailing. In 2016, Harris paid Waters\u2019 campaign $30,000 for another while running for the US Senate, according to Federal Election Commission filings.<\/p>\n<p>California Democratic Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/gavin-newsom-launches-569-billion-reparations-plan-for-california\">Gavin Newsom<\/a>\u00a0paid Waters\u2019 campaign $45,000 for a slate mailer while running for lieutenant governor in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Former Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer spent a combined $33,000 in 2010 and 2018 with Waters\u2019 campaign for the mailers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, embattled progressive Los Angeles District Attorney\u00a0George Gasc\u00f3n\u00a0paid $36,500 to Waters&#8217; committee for the slate mailers during his campaign.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>California Democratic\u00a0Rep.
