This video shows that Tyre was brutally beaten by Memphis police officers last month.<\/p>\n<p>Harris advocated for the particular. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/george-floyd-justice-in-policing-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Floyd Justice In Policing Act<\/a>The House passed the legislation in March 2021. But, the Senate failed to approve it due to Republican opposition. Harris stated that she was a coauthor of the original legislation during her time as a senator.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs vice president of the United States, we demand that Congress pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act,\u201d Harris exclaimed to cheers. Before saying anything, she added that President Joe Biden would sign the bill. \u201cWe should not delay and we will not be denied. It is nonnegotiable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">While speaking at Tyre Nichols\u2019 funeral, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris called on Congress to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will not be denied. It was named after George Floyd who died in May 2020, after a Minneapolis officer bent over on his back during an arrest.<\/p>\n<p>While bystander video of Floyd\u2019s arrest led to a summer of protests and riots across the country, it was body camera and surveillance video of Memphis officers punching and kicking Nichols that led to a fresh outcry over police brutality. The beating was a result of an attempted arrest for a traffic stop for reckless driving. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cops-charged-with-murder-of-tyre-nichols-hired-after-job-requirements-lowered-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Assassinated<\/a> Their SCORPION unit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/memphis-police-department-makes-major-change-following-death-of-tyre-nichols\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disbanded<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The black community in particular has felt the weight of these tragedies, as\u00a0Floyd and Nichols were black men. Although the officers charged in Nichols\u2019 death were all black, activists have taken to blaming \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/tyre-nichols-bodycam-systemic-racism-non-white-people-black-activists\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">systematic racism<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democrats in Congress, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/02\/01\/black-caucus-biden-police-reform-00080674\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Congressional Black Caucus<\/a>They have started a new push to persuade the White House to lead the effort to reform federal police forces. Although there has been bipartisan support, in particular for the changes made in <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/3836639-tim-scott-is-pivotal-figure-as-tyre-nichols-beating-rekindles-talk-of-police-reform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Talks by Sen. Tim Scott (R.
