Why are they doing this? DEISJ is a cultural movement, not based on academics. Unfortunately, SUNY responded to the mob.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Giordano stated that the DEISJ coursework views United States as \u201cinherently racist,\u201d While \u201ccreating groups and pitting them against each other.\u201d He said that the curriculum is designed to help students. \u201cdefined by the color of their skin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a woke, left-wing agenda,\u201d Chairman Jerry Kassar of the Conservative Party of New York echoed his sentiments. \u201cIt\u2019s disturbing. It\u2019s dangerous. They\u2019re treating everybody as having prejudice. It\u2019s like a socialist, Communist state. It\u2019s unbelievable. These ideas are best addressed at home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under the guidance of the University Faculty Senate, and the Faculty Council of Community Colleges to Campuses, the University Faculty Senate encourages the teaching of this course to include perspectives from outside America. <a href=\"https:\/\/system.suny.edu\/media\/suny\/content-assets\/documents\/academic-affairs\/general-education\/suny-ge\/FCCC_UFS_Guidance-on-DEISJ-courses.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Writing<\/a>, \u201cOne can imagine how theory and criticism rooted outside the United States could help guide faculty and students in addressing and thinking about diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But SUNY Chancellor John King countered, \u201cExposure to, and understanding of, diversity is essential to success in our modern society and economy. As a leader in preparing the future workforce and citizenry, SUNY is committed to embedding diversity into the foundation of all it does \u2013 from academics to campus life and everything in between.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy recognizing and celebrating our diversity and fostering respectful dialogue and debate, SUNY provides students with the world-class education they deserve,\u201d He concluded.<\/p>\n<p>In September 2021, the New York State Board of Regents <a href=\"http:\/\/www.regents.nysed.gov\/common\/regents\/files\/September%2013%2C%202021%20NYS%20Board%20of%20Regents%20Diversity%2C%20Equity%2C%20and%20Inclusion%20Work%20Group%20Materials.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">insistent<\/a>, \u201cEvery New York school district will develop and adopt a diversity, equity, and inclusion education policy. \u2026 It is the expectation of the NYS Board of Regents that the Department, schools, and districts will implement DEI policies and practices with urgency and fidelity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Board of Regents will discuss a framework on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for New York State Schools which will serve as the basis for adopting a policy statement,\u201d They were also added. \u201cWith this framework, the Board is ready to address the long history of racism and bigotry, and the corrosive impact they have had on every facet of American life.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A New York university will force all incoming freshmen to take a course focused on \u201cDiversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice\u201d \u2014 or they won\u2019t graduate.
