Ilhan Omar being removed from the House Foreign Affairs Committee. She met with Kevin McCarthy, R-CA this week.<\/p>\n<p>Spartz\u2019s reversal comes after McCarthy already booted Reps. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Eric Swalwell (D-CA) from the House Intelligence Committee over security concerns surrounding their ability to be trusted with classified information.<\/p>\n<p>Omar was kicked out of the Foreign Affairs Committee due to her anti-Semitic past.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI appreciate Speaker McCarthy\u2019s willingness to address legitimate concerns and add due process language to our resolution,\u201d Spartz stated this in a statement on Tuesday night. \u201cDeliberation and debate are vital for our institution, not top-down approaches.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rule of law, freedom of speech, and due process are fundamental to our Constitutional Republic,\u201d She continued. \u201cOur founding fathers understood that pure democracy is dangerous and can lead to the tyranny of majority, mob rule and dictatorship. As to my fellow conservatives, I think setting a precedent of allowing an appeal process for the Speaker\u2019s and majority-party removal decisions is particularly important to freedom-loving legislators who usually are on the receiving end of issues like this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Spartz stated earlier this month she was against the removal Omar from the committee. She believed it was retaliation to Democrats for removing GOP members of committees in past.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo wrongs do not make a right,\u201d Spartz made the previous statement. \u201cSpeaker Pelosi took unprecedented actions last Congress to remove Reps. Greene and Gosar from their committees without proper due process. Speaker McCarthy is taking unprecedented actions this Congress to deny some committee assignments to the Minority without proper due process again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I spoke against it on the House floor two years ago, I will not support this charade again,\u201d She claimed. \u201cSpeaker McCarthy needs to stop \u2018bread and circuses\u2019 in Congress and start governing for a change.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
