But it wasn\u2019t very clever of me at all,\u201d Fraser admitted that he had made three films by the time he finished the third. \u201cThe Mummy\u201d Franchise, he was basically being held together with ice packs and tape.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike a gladiator with muscle tape and ice packs, strapping on this Transformer-like exoskeleton just to get through the scene,\u201d It was described by him.<\/p>\n<p>Fraser continued to explain that he felt he had to put in the work physically. \u201cearn\u201d roles in bigger blockbusters \u2014 but he noted that self-doubt and even self-loathing may have also played a role in that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think on some level I felt I deserved [a beating] and wanted to be the one to get in the first punch,\u201d He stated.<\/p>\n<p>Fraser\u2019s latest role in Darren Aronofsky\u2019s \u201cThe Whale\u201d \u2014 for which he earned his first Oscar nomination \u2014 was physical in a very different way: the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/see-it-the-moment-ke-huy-quan-catches-up-with-brendan-fraser-in-critics-choice-winners-lounge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Encino Man<\/a>\u201d Actor had to gain weight and then <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/makes-no-sense-the-whale-director-responds-to-critics-of-brendan-fraser-wearing-a-fat-suit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A fat suit can be added<\/a> Charlie is an obese teacher who&#8217;s addicted to food and is literally dying.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll I can say is that I knew it had to be done with sensitivity and honesty,\u201d He stated. \u201cPutting quotation marks around Charlie \u2014 trying to sentimentalize him, or make him a circus act \u2014 would be nothing that I would want to be a part of,\u201d Fraser spoke out about the role, rebutting critics who denounced the fat suit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oscar-nominated actor Brendan Fraser (\u201cThe Whale\u201d) said in a recent interview that he took very physically challenging roles early in his career because \u201con some level I felt I deserved\u201d the beatings that came with them.
