He has built an extraordinary network of allies across almost every sector of the economy over a period of decades, spending more than $32billion. That power doesn\u2019t just impact American opinion. Soros, his Open Society Foundations and the charities they fund exercise significant influence around the world \u2014 because of his numerous connections with the news media.<\/p>\n<p>Soros\u2019 millions give him access to major media figures and top news outlets, in addition to prominent executives at every level of government around the globe. Soros&#8217; support for journalism groups has the power to influence public opinion in almost every continent and in many different languages. He is also protected from investigation by reporters who see him not as a target but an ally.<\/p>\n<p>President of MRC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mrc.org\/staff\/l-brent-bozell-iii\">Brent Bozell<\/a> In a statement, it was stated that &#8220;George Soros&#8217; money buys a lot of things. It buys sympathetic coverage of his radical views on criminal justice, abortion, racial politics and climate extremism. And it buys protection from criticism by anyone on the right.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" class=\"image-blog_image_50_ img-fluid blog-img\" data-insert-attach=\"{\" id  style=\"display:none\"> The 92-year-old liberal philanthropist\u2019s multimillion-dollar efforts promote his personal agenda encompassing some of the most radical leftist ideas on abortion, Marxist economics, anti-Americanism, defunding the police, environmental extremism and LGBT fanaticism. Soros achieved the highest level of his celebrity status, with the support of top TV news channel stars and executives from major news outlets. MRC Business examined the breadth of Soros\u2019 influence through global media in an extensive, three-part investigative series. These are the results.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>253 Journalism\/Media Organizations Tied to Soros<\/strong> At least 253 organizations across the world that focus on news and activist media were funded by Soros\u2019 organizations. These groups have enormous power over international politics&#8217; information flow. Project Syndicate, a liberal outlet funded by Soros <a href=\"https:\/\/www.project-syndicate.org\/about\">Claim<\/a> In 2021, its commentary were published 20,393 in 156 different countries. Project Syndicate boasted that its articles have been published in 66 languages. Project Syndicate received $1,532,105 from Soros between 2016-2020. Another leftist U.K.-based outlet funded in part by Soros, a>https:\/\/www.opendemocracy.net\/en\/about\/&#8221;>openDemocracy<\/a>It was claimed by. \u201cattracts more than 11 million visits per year\u201d Publishes projects \u201cin Russian, Spanish and Portuguese as well as English.\u201d Between 2016 and 2020, Soros donated $1,633,457 to openDemocracy. The Poynter Institute\u2019s Soros-funded International Fact-Checking Network controls global fact-checking for 100 organizations and influences much of Big Tech content and social media with that power. Between 2016 and 2020, Soros donated $492,000 to the IFCN. (The total income of IFCN in 2021 was a mere <a href=\"https:\/\/www.poynter.org\/international-fact-checking-network-transparency-statement\/\">$2.4 million<\/a>.)\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Soros-Funded Outlets Push Radical and Dystopian Views<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opendemocracy.net\/en\/\">openDemocracy<\/a> Publi\u00e9 an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opendemocracy.net\/en\/oureconomy\/coronavirus-crisis-shows-its-time-abolish-family\/\">Op-ed by a<\/a> \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.opendemocracy.net\/en\/author\/sophie-lewis-2\/\">queer communism<\/a>\u201d COVID-19 crisis activist \u201cshows it&#8217;s time to abolish the [nuclear] family.\u201d The outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opendemocracy.net\/en\/north-africa-west-asia\/rejecting-victimhood-case-for-palestinian-resistance\/\">Also, it is justifiable<\/a> Terrorist rockets from Palestine being fired into Israel \u201ca necessary counter-discourse\u201d It was dubbed &#8220;a&#8221; \u201ccolonial power.\u201d Project Syndicate pushed a piece funded by Soros <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20201221204205\/https:\/\/marianamazzucato.com\/about\/\">economist<\/a> Who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.project-syndicate.org\/commentary\/radical-green-overhaul-to-avoid-climate-lockdown-by-mariana-mazzucato-2020-09\">argued<\/a> Globalization is essential. \u201cclimate lockdown\u201d if the world didn\u2019t undergo a radical green economic transformation. It also published propaganda written by an ex-Iran President and anti-American extremist. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.project-syndicate.org\/columnist\/hassan-rouhani\">Hassan Rouhani<\/a>He threatened to escalate conflict with the U.S. in 2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.project-syndicate.org\/magazine\/hassan-rouhani-on-iran-s-new-moderation-2014-01\">Column<\/a> for Project Syndicate if an agreement on his country\u2019s nuclear program wasn\u2019t reached. The Soros-backed Free Press pressured the Federal Communications Commission to label former President Donald Trump\u2019s coronavirus briefings \u201choaxes\u201d They should be aired and condemned by broadcasters.<\/li>\n<li><strong>$131 Million to Advance Soros\u2019 Leftist Global Media Agenda:<\/strong> Soros\u2019 Open Society Foundations (OSF) gave $131,111,250 to journalism and media organizations around the globe between 2016 and 2020 to push his radical global agenda on issues like climate change, opposition to the traditional family, anti-Americanism, abortion and race. But that\u2019s not all. The Soros Economic Development Fund is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.soroseconomicdevelopmentfund.org\/\">Impact Investment Arm<\/a> Open Society Foundations spends hundreds of million of dollars all over the globe in \u201cprivate-sector investments to advance\u201d OSF\u2019s left-wing agendas such as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.soroseconomicdevelopmentfund.org\/how-we-work\/racial-equity#criteria\">racial equity<\/a>\u201d  \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.soroseconomicdevelopmentfund.org\/how-we-work\/climate-justice\">climate justice<\/a>.\u201d According to the organization, it has distributed $400 million to 54 countries by April 2022. Of that amount, $9.3million went towards. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.soroseconomicdevelopmentfund.org\/how-we-work\/independent-media\">independent media.<\/a>\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>54 Soros-Tied Figures Are Linked to Major Media <\/strong>MRC found at most 54 media figures (e.g. MRC found at least 54 media figures (e.g. anchors, columnists editors, news executives, journalists) who are well-known individuals in activist and news media. These figures include <em>NBC Nightly News <\/em>Anchor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/nightly-news\">Lester Holt<\/a>CNN Chief International Anchorhttps:\/\/www.cnn.com\/profiles\/christiane-amanpour-profile&#8221;>Christiane Amanpour<\/a>, <em>The Washington Post <\/em>executive editor <a href=\"https:\/\/helpcenter.washingtonpost.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/360002940991-Leadership-of-The-Washington-Post-newsroom\">Sally Buzbee<\/a>PolitiFact Editor In-Chief <a href=\"https:\/\/www.poynter.org\/author\/angieholan\/\">Angie Drobnic Holan<\/a> Bloomberg News cofounder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/opinion\/authors\/ABoPbkSVM6Y\/matthew-a-winkler\">Matthew Winkler<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>RECOMMENDATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>MRC Business has many recommendations for media to address the clear conflicts of interests regarding Soros.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reject Soros Cash<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Any outlet funded by Soros should not be governed or supervised by a purportedly objective journalist, like National Public Radio. Journalists should report on academic affiliations if they do.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question the motivations behind sources funded by Liberal Billionaires<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When a network or linked organizations promotes a story, editors and reporters need to be aware. Reporters should not only question the motives of such instances, but also the facts of the case \u2014 whether it&#8217;s on the right or the left.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spend some time researching Soros<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Journalists find it easy to analyze top conservative organizations and their donors. But they spend very little time investigating the funding or motives of liberal organizations. Reporters should do a more detailed investigation into Soros\u2019 Open Society Foundations and its global influence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Investigate Soros\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While many journalists, anchors and reporters sit on boards of Soros-funded organisations, they also play prominent roles in the news media. Journalists must investigate conflicts that could involve their counterparts.
