However, Feinstein, 89, contradicted herself on Monday and suggested that an announcement could be made in the next few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ll be hearing, soon,\u201d Feinstein told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-01-30\/feinstein-keeps-everyone-guessing-by-waiting-on-2024-senate-decision\">Bloomberg News<\/a>. \u201cIn the spring sometime. Not in the winter. I don\u2019t announce in the winter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though Feinstein\u2019s future remains uncertain, the whiff of a potential vacancy in a reliably blue state has Democrats in a frenzy.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Katie Porter (D.CA), 49, announced publicly that she would run for Senate earlier in the month. Rep. Adam Schiff, 62 (D.CA), has also declared his intention to run. MSNBC reports that Porter spoke to Feinstein privately prior to her announcement. Schiff, however, has publicly stated that Feinstein was aware that Porter planned to run.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to make sure that everything I did was respectful of her and that I did so with her knowledge and her blessing,\u201d Schiff told <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/politics-united-states-government-2022-midterm-elections-dianne-feinstein-donald-trump-4cbf8c0995a1a60da50294d091732946\">The Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, Rep. Barbara Lee (D\u2013CA), who is also from Northern California, told members of Congress Black Caucus she would also declare that candidacy. When <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/01\/11\/barbara-lee-california-senate-00077482\">Questions from reporters<\/a> Lee stated that her private comments were not confidential and she would only make public her plans. \u201cwhen appropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lee, 76 years old, considers herself to be a &#8220;Age-Friend&#8221; because of her age. \u201ctransitional\u201d Candidat who would only serve one term.
