Says All Individuals Involved In Tyre Nichols Confrontation Could Face Charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<aside class=\"mashsb-container mashsb-main mashsb-stretched\"><div class=\"mashsb-box\"><div class=\"mashsb-count mash-medium\" style=\"&quot;\"><div class=\"counts mashsbcount\">28<\/div><span class=\"mashsb-sharetext\">SHARES<\/span><\/div><div class=\"mashsb-buttons\"><a class=\"mashicon-facebook mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sharer.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.conservativenewsdaily.net%2Fbreaking-news%2Fshelby-county-d-a-says-all-individuals-involved-in-tyre-nichols-confrontation-could-face-charges%2F\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Facebook<\/span><\/a><a class=\"mashicon-twitter mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?text=&amp;url=https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/?p=1829407&amp;via=ConservNewsDly\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Twitter<\/span><\/a><a class=\"mashicon-subscribe mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"#\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Subscribe<\/span><\/a><div class=\"onoffswitch2 mash-medium mashsb-noshadow\" style=\"display:none\"><\/div><\/div>\n            <\/div>\n                <div style=\"clear:both\"><\/div><\/aside>\n            <!-- Share buttons by mashshare.net - Version: 4.0.47-->\n<p>Steve Mulroy, Shelby County District Attorney, said Monday that all those involved in the events leading to, during and after the beating of Tyre Nicks in Memphis, Tennessee could face additional charges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis includes the officer present at the initial encounter who has not \u2014 so far \u2014 been charged, Memphis Fire Department personnel, and persons who participated in preparing documentation of the incident afterward,\u201d the district attorney\u2019s office told <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/6th-officer-involved-tyre-nichols-death-relieved-duty\/story?id=96764687\">ABC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mulroy spoke to \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/transcripts.cnn.com\/show\/cnr\/date\/2023-01-29\/segment\/05\">CNN Newsroom Sunday<\/a>,\u201d When asked if the public could view other people charged in the case, he said he couldn&#8217;t comment on the ongoing investigation or prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to need time to allow the investigation to go forward in further consideration of charges,\u201d He stated. \u201cBut I will say this, nothing we did last Thursday regarding the indictments precludes us from bringing other charges later.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At least two Memphis Fire Department employees and two Shelby County Sheriff\u2019s deputies are being investigated, according to a report by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/01\/28\/us\/tyre-nichols-beating-video-takeaways\/index.html\">CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Memphis Fire Department spokesperson Qwanesha Ward told the news outlet two fire department employees who were part of Nichols\u2019 \u201cinitial patient care\u201d They were relieved \u201cwhile an internal investigation is being conducted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonner Jr. cited two deputies \u201cwho appeared on the scene following the physical confrontation\u201d The incident sparked an investigation and both deputies were included in the investigation. \u201chave been relieved of duty\u201d pending the investigation\u2019s outcome.<\/p>\n<p>Dave Aronberg, Palm Beach County Attorney in Florida, said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/crime\/shelby-county-da-wont-rule-out-charges-being-filed-against-additional-people-for-tyre-nichols-death2\/\">Mediaite<\/a> that if the district attorney\u2019s office pursues additional charges against the Memphis Fire Department or Shelby County deputies, it would \u201chinge\u201d their official job duties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe big question from a criminal and civil standpoint is \u2018did they have a legal duty to intervene?&#8217;\u201d Aronberg spoke. \u201cThat duty exists because of the position they are in. It wouldn\u2019t apply to a civilian bystander but would definitely apply to a police officer or EMT who stood by and did nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, Aronber noted the charges would depend on Tennessee law and would not speculate as a Florida prosecutor on another state\u2019s law.<\/p>\n<p>Mulroy\u2019s comments come days after announcing charges against five former Memphis Police Department officers who were arrested and charged in connection to the incident for their alleged involvement in the death of the 29-year-old male, who died earlier this month in a hospital days after the confrontation.<\/p>\n<p>Those officers include Emmit Martin III, Justin Smith, Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, and Desmond Mills for Nichols\u2019 death.<\/p>\n<p>Each officer was charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives of the Memphis Police Department told ABC that authorities relieved Preston Hemphill, sixth officer, from duty as part of an ongoing investigation. The investigation revealed that Preston used his Taser during the confrontation.<\/p>\n<p>Hemphill, the third officer at Nichols\u2019 initial traffic stop, was heard on his body camera video saying twice, \u201cI hope they stomp his a**,\u201d ABC reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs per departmental regulations Officer Hemphill activated his bodycam,\u201d Lee Gerald, an attorney representing Hemphill said earlier in a statement made to ABC. \u201cHe was never present at the second scene.
