Trump<\/a>The Vicar of Jesus Christ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/pope-francis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pope Francis<\/a>, and former Secretary Of State <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/american-history\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Henry Kissinger<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The oddball trio standing athwart America\u2019s military-industrial complex raises two questions: Where have all the peacemakers gone? What is the best place to start on the road to ending the bloodshed and violence?<\/p>\n<p>The answer might lie in a report by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rand.org\/pubs\/perspectives\/PEA2510-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RAND Corporation<\/a>. The paper is titled \u201cAvoiding A Long War,\u201d indicates that the data suggests that we could all be faced with World War III and nuclear war sooner than we think if the U.S. doesn\u2019t change its strategic objective \u2014 and fast. It didn\u2019t take a policy paper to come to that conclusion, but the piece sure helps put things in perspective and just might be the resource that key figures in D.C. need to change tactics.<\/p>\n<p>The Russia-Ukraine conflict is at an impasse right now and trending towards major escalation. 31 Abrams tanks were sent by the U.S., but they take several months to get operationally. It seems that neither Russia nor Ukraine will lose on the battlefield anytime soon.<\/p>\n<p>For the United States\u2019 part, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=eKM3eBic53Y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">President Joe Biden<\/a> and his longtime ally Secretary of State Antony Blinken insist that the fighting could end at any time \u2014 if only the Russians left. Objectively speaking, that\u2019s a pipe dream.<\/p>\n<p>After so many bloody and costly attacks on Ukraine, why would Russia pack up and leave?<\/p>\n<p>So, the Russian government has looked at America\u2019s decision to send tanks and declared that talks right now are \u201cpointless.\u201d \u00a0Russia\u2019s deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/europe\/live-news\/russia-ukraine-war-news-1-30-23\/h_e88e195def2993ff9205c73659eb7e71\">That claim was made<\/a> Monday&#8217;s state TV broadcast, adding that Putin would willingly accept. \u201cconsider any serious initiatives\u201d But he argued that none had.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Whether that is true or not, the statement comes on the heels of NATO\u2019s chair of the Military Committee, Rob Bauer, claiming that the organization and its members stand ready for a \u201cdirect\u201d Russia. Bauer advised his members to operate under a license. \u201cwartime economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>American politicians are already acting as though America has declared war at least in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Both parties&#8217; elected members of Congress have said that the U.S. \u201cat war.\u201d Under that framework, we\u2019ll be \u201cat war\u201d for as long as Ukraine\u2019s main goal is to regain all of its former territories. It was discussed last Thursday. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/if-regime-change-in-russia-is-the-goal-shouldnt-we-think-about-what-comes-next\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Also, it seems<\/a> that the more covert goal of the U.S.\u2019s foreign policy is to remove Russian President Vladimir Putin from power.<\/p>\n<p>You don\u2019t have to be a military expert to understand that the longer this war goes on, the more likely it is that the entire globe will be drawn into it \u2014 which would mean hundreds of thousands, if not millions, more dead bodies.<\/p>\n<p>What can we do to avoid this?\u00a0 According to the RAND Corporation, a non-partisan thinktank <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rand.org\/pubs\/perspectives\/PEA2510-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Biden administration<\/a> must dramatically alter its current course.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe conclude that, in addition to averting possible escalation to a Russia-NATO war or Russian nuclear use, avoiding a long war is also a higher priority for the United States than facilitating significantly more Ukrainian territorial control,\u201d According to the group.<\/p>\n<p>What should the U.S. do to achieve this? The group suggested that the U.S. adopt policies that work in this direction. \u201cclarifying its plans for future support to Ukraine, making commitments to Ukraine\u2019s security, issuing assurances regarding the country\u2019s neutrality, and setting conditions for sanctions relief for Russia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These four suggestions are, of course, a great idea. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rand.org\/pubs\/perspectives\/PEA2510-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Starting point<\/a> for the U.S. \u2014 not a final offer in negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>If you are someone who believes that the U.S. should support Ukraine for as long as possible, then it is easy to see the positives of that plan: It would assure that Ukraine has security against Russia and guarantees it won\u2019t join NATO, thus avoiding a larger war, while also keeping-checks-and-balances on Russia without isolating it entirely.<\/p>\n<p>Now, it should be noted that some \u2014 such as Kissinger \u2014 argue that Ukrainian neutrality is \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/henry-kissingers-shifting-views-ukraine-1774710\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">no longer meaningful<\/a>.\u201d Trump, for his part, insists that Biden\u2019s incompetence is to blame for the war, but assuredly his South Carolina ally, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, also deserves some of the blame for repeatedly arguing that war ends with regime change in Russia. Pope Francis has clearly had very little success acting as an intermediary between Russia, Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps negotiations are impossible because we&#8217;re too far away.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, another option some might argue is that the U.S. shouldn\u2019t be concerned with Ukraine, let alone increasing the type of weaponry sent there. This idea is not being discussed by anyone, but it is alarming that none of the power brokers seem to be preparing for peace.
